Any one use those larger stair hand tools? ie 8" or !0" with a big long handle, 2 jets.
If so, what do you think of them?
Are they easy to handle on the treads and risers?

i've had the prochem 7" stair tool for years and it is very good, i also have a 2-jet 8" stair wand and that is around the limit i would go to personally, if you go for a 10" then it will only be any use on 'straight' stairs, 10" is too wide to get into the corners of stairs that turn corners,

It's how you use it and a smaller one can get into tighter places.

prefer the small ones,
cant seem to get round all the risers properly with the long handled

Yes me too have a reversible stair wand but use my old 3" Prochem upholster tool, light and easy to clean all the stair.
-
Mmmmm, had an idea the larger ones may cause a problem.
Pity that, 10" - 3 swipes on a tread and its done.
Mark - 3" hand tool, wow, must take ages. but if the jobs a goodun .......

I use my 5" CFR Upholstery tool and its good for curtains.

Do you leave part of the cfr oprning open Paul?

The 10'' swivel head twin jet is not a problem on most straight stairways. Very affective and a lot quicker than using a hand tool. It will pay for itself with speed.
I use a hand tool where the stairs are heavily soiled or the stairs turn and there is limited accsess with the longer 10'' tool.

Joe it doesn't take that much longer and far easier than struggling with a heavy hand tool. use the stair wand on commercial straights.
-
The 8" twin jet stair tool from John Kelly is very versatile and gives me excellent results.

I find my 6" stair tool very cumbersome. I can only get on with it for the treads, I find it very awkward to go over the noses and impossible to do risers. Tbh I still use my hand tool for most stairs, I find it quicker and more thorough.

Hi Joe
I'm with Peter Dawson on this one-agree with his answer totally.
BTW thanks for the help about the repair at Pirtek. Fixed it a treat and only £26!

Not for stairs, only on upholstery so it doesn't 'grab' so much.

I use the 4inch glidemaster hand tool from Prochem find its perfect for stairs i used to use my Prochem upholstery tool but i think it has 02 jet compared to the 04 jet for the glidemaster find the glidemaster a lot quicker and better.

Hi joe
I had one and found them harder to use spec on the stair drops.
Much prefer the smaller hand tools :)

Paup im not getting on with my cfr, it doesnt seem to be wetting the fabric enough (although that is the idea behind them ::))
-
i just spray the riser with the stair wand then flip it upside down and extract upwards, does anyone else use this method?
