Post by: RPCCS on October 24, 2008, 09:47:09 pm
Is this the stuff to put in the water that acts like anti freeze? Does it affect the tds reading and where can I get some on the high street ,with hard frost forecast for next week I haven't time to order it off ebay

It doesn't effect the TDS at all, but you do need 99.7 or 99.9% pure Iso for that.

I can't help you where to get it from off the high street.

What would happen if you put 95% pure in would you need to add a bit more?

Really? I was told 1 litre of IPA to every 5 litres of water!

i ordered 5 ltres of ebay yesturday.... in my experience so far over the past 2 winters i have managed ok without isopropyl, but on really cold days its been difficult untill after 9.30, but once the sun comes up its been ok.   i make sure i put a heater in the van overnight......

when i have to use isopropyl i will use my back pack, as then i will only need to add a drop at a time, rather than put a litre in my van mount..

That's 20% so that should be ok to minus seven.

Regardless of what some say on here a coke can full in 5ooltrs does the job, don`t waste money by glugging in ltrs of the stuff it`s not needed.I`ve used it for over 2 years now and have never frozen up even on the coldest of mornings.

Don't think so, Ithink its just a form of anti freeze for w/cs,its only used as a cleaning agent on electronic/electrical components
