Cleaned a sofa for lady tuesday 18 months old very light soiling customer extremely house proud had noticed dark patch on top of back cushions and on seat cushions where husband sits so wanted it cleaned
Sofa made by Collins and Hayes Cotton acrylic mix chenille type fabric green colour
Survey revealed no problems cleaned using fabric restorer brushed with hand brush and rinsed with acidic rinse.
Looked fine after cleaning dark areas cleaned up ok
Following day recd phone call and visited customer, seat cushions faces and front edge had what customer described as patches with a pink tinge to me looked like colour loss, rest of sofa base back cushions and arm caps completely fine.
At a loss as what could have caused this and comments thoughts or assistance very very welcome.
Kind Regards

this problem has just been on truckmounters,
apparently the fabric youve cleaned is susceptible to acid rinse, from what ive read, if you go back and blot a small area with a high alcali ph it should turn back to green, if so then i suppose you just rinse with a high ph all over and problem should be solved, there was also a mention of using bicarb, if someone else doesn't help with this problem then i'll read the thread more thoroughly and advise you accordingly, but i think the alcali rinse should do the trick. shaun knows more as he joined in on the topic.
hope this eases the stress, it can be rectified.

Yes ask Mike but the same happened to me last year and it was the acid rinse that caused the problem. This can be reversed totally as far as I am aware but dont know the best solution to use.

I'm no brains on the subject :o :o just had it happen to me.
here are some responses from Truckmounter;
some fabrics are sensitve to acids eg fabric & fibe rinse, they will turnn red over time
it needs to be treated with an Alkaline to correct the red, just touch it with a cloth soaked in ammonia or any high ph solution (Champion) and it will immediately disappear.
go back to the suite and test it, rub it with a strong acid and it will immediately go red then rub it with a strong alkali and it will disappear
Bicarbonate of soda from all Supermarkets will fix this, I have corrected 3, 1 of my own doing and 2 by other cleaners.
Dilute a strong mix in a spray bottle with warm water make sure it mixes well and spray all over and towel in then spray some more and leave turbo drier on suite.

Mike,
Is that my problem suite, looks like it. Anyway the solution is a desertspoonful of Bi Carbonate of Soda in a litre of tepid water, shake well and lightly mist onto affected area, lightly brush in, and watch it turn back to its normal colour in front of your eyes. Take just a minute. Dont rinse out, just let it dry normally. That problem suite was returned back to its original colour using this method.

Dave I'm not sure, do you recognise the code at the bottom? I thought it was the one I did but I have that many photos on my computer I may be mistaken. but if this is a suite you've cleaned as well, there is a definite problem with it because some one on truckmounter has cleaned the same suite and he also has turned it red
so we all need to be aware of it.

Dave I just searched all my photos I think that one is yours, here's mine. the exact same suite;
