ok here goes .... how often should they be renewed?? i now clean an office and in them 5 small toilet blocks so how often?

Hi there,
This will depend on the quality of the mop head in the first place, we stock and sell both Excel mop heads from Robert Scott along with SYR mop heads, both are leading brands, and dependant on the type will determine how long they can last.
If it's a traditional PY mop head that is disposal, it will begin to discolour almost immediately after using, however ensuring that it is disinfectanted, and not left in a dirty bucket, I would suggest a week to two, another option is the old fashioned smell test, however I would not recommend this, as by the time you notice, most of your customers will have also.
Why not consider a washable mop head, if you are prepared to launder it, this will cost on average around £2.50 however is expected to launder 10 times, so effectivily 5 nights a week, launder it, you may wish not to take it to extremes, given that mops will discolour due to the nature of the environment and that of the chemical.

hi there .. i would reccomend syr mopheads i put them through the washing machine every week they will last you ages they are very good quality

I would'nt recommend putting one in the washing machine because it will be a bitch to start. I love these serious posts. 4 strokes last longer than 2 strokes but cost more to rebuild. This post has cheered me up - I was only moping

I read the original post wrong - It said about the toilet blocks and how often should you change them ? When they loose their flavour which is quite soon if cleaners leave them in the urinals

Back to the original question...
as stated it depends on the mop head, the type of floor you are cleaning and the cleaning product you use. Bleach will degrade mop heads faster than some other chemicals.
My guys change them whenever they feel they need to. End of the day its just a personal judgement call.

when u wash them in washing machine and after first clean they are black again or you get strands of mop hanging down in the middle then its time to bin.....
