Title: Motivation
Post by: seandyer2003 on October 20, 2008, 09:23:23 pm
I have a big problem keeping motivated working for myself and on my own all day, some days i love it and then others i reallly hate it and its probably about 50/50 most of the time! And if i had kept my motivation a bit more i would probably of got alot further alot sooner, but going forward that is my goal!

Thinking of the money doesnt always motivate me, so i wondered what you guys do, or think of etc, to keep going, or get out of bed in the first place to get out there and get stuck in!!

Thanks

Sean

I run a 'scheduled' round so I clean on the day I say I will i.e every 8 weeks to the day....this I find makes me get up and get out...given the choice of 'doing it tommorow' I doubt that some weeks I would get half the work done at all.

Sean,

It is the money that motivates; this was pointed out to me by another window cleaner when I said similar to him, as what you've just said.

It's true too.  I bet you've got 'top days' when you can earn a good wadge, and I bet you're never late for these jobs; getting out of bed on these days are never a problem.  I've three-days-a-month like this; my best jobs and I'm always smack on time.

I wish I had it every day though.

It's the 'not-well-priced' job days that are the problem and it just takes time to try and improve them.

Too true mate i have been putting off one of my worst roads for 2 days now, been doing other jobs instead, but doing it tommorow, thats why i posted mainly!! need to get out and do it tommorow, its about 120 and seems to take forever!!! 6 hrs usually at fair pace, so not great but still £20 an hr, luckier than some these days who are out of work!!

Since you reckon I've hit the nail on the head!  When you get the chance, re-ask this question on my 'Ask Tosh' post!  ;)

£120 for a six hour day is the dogs b******s , you ask anyone working for someone else , on an hourly rate....

when i hit on the days i have to do the poorly paid calls, i jump out of bed, get to them , work my arse off, and get them done and out of the way, and i still count myself very lucky at the end of the day.

 ;)
