Title: What database to buy
Post by: Michel Roberts on February 25, 2005, 09:10:21 pm
I hav'nt got a database but I know from reading these forums I should get one sorted out.

As Jo is on at me to get her a new laptop I thought this would be the right time to make a start with one.

I was thinking of buying a laptop with XP home edition.
XP professional is a little bit more but I don't know if there is any advantage.

I could just get microsoft small business edition which I am sure would have this but I have looked at it and it seems quite complicated to use.

A friend has suggested filemaker which seems simpler to use

I would welcome any feedback you might have. I am looking mainly for something that is simple to use and would enable me to mail shot custies at varing intervals i.e 1or 2 years or whatever.

Thanks Michel

What features would the perfect C/Cleaners database have?
Name, Address, billing, mailshot, record of work done. Can you think of anything else?

hi
there is a piece of software called select:database. it only costs £7.99, it is quite basic but should have everything you need.

Michel

Have a couple if you are going to the show will drop them for you to try or if not could try e-mail (always wanted to try this) if you don’t like them you can always do a windows restore.
