Title: Advertising
Post by: JandS on October 16, 2008, 05:34:23 pm
Just been approached by Yell.com.
Anybody any feedback on them.
Bulk of my work comes from ads in 6 local papers in the region.
The commercial stuff is from Thompsons or Google.

Regards

How many of your competitors are using the sponsored/enhanced listings?  The more of them there are, the less "special" the paid for listing is, so if there's more than about 4 or 5 don't bother, you'd probably be better sticking with the free listing and let people choose to call you because you have a local number.

If you do go for it do it small-scale first year, if it doubles your money consider stepping it up next time.  You can use another address in another town as an add-on listing at a lower price than the full one, all you need is an address and postcode but it isn't displayed on the web page so won't confuse people about your actual address

£450?
He's just quoted me £30 and some pence a month payable over 10 months.
Can't go far wrong at that.

My area is 220 plus vat.

Obviously some areas are better than others, I wonder how much Brighton area is? as Spencer does well with his website.

Have had add in yellow pages and yell .com for a year. Low response has not covered outlay but am trying another year. Better response from Thompson Local but still short of outlay. Most of my work from local paers but very costly. Just ending my second year. Referal and repeat business just starting to show.
