Title: Stair Treads - How Much!
Post by: Scott Martin on February 24, 2005, 05:29:51 pm
Hi Guys,

If you do not mind divulging a bit can you let me know what you lot charge for treads?

Got a big common area job to quote for and it has 82 treads and numerous landings and all really grubby.

Household style carpet on them and it is PEACH colour.

Landings i will price as normal but the treads are stupming on this one. my usual charge is arpund £1.80 per tread.

Cost is via factor via tennants, only four tennants in a well, really upmarket area yuppy style block of townhouse flats.

Cheers in advance guys.

Scott

TREADS ARE ABOUT 2.5/3FT WIDE

I would estimate how long it would take to do + 1/3, then x hourly rate.

If thats any help

I went round to inspect a job the other day, master bedroom and stairs. The woman told me she had already been quoted over the phone by a couple of franchises at £20 for the stairs to be cleaned.

I don't suppose she happened to mention that the 'house' was actually a mini-mansion, with 23 treads, two fair sized landings, and another couple of stair areas (8 treads in total) leading off of the main staircase.

The dangers of quoting over the phone without asking the right questions?  I really felt like telling her to get one of the companies in to do it for £20, if only I could have been there when they turned up. Unfortunately, my wife does a weekly house clean there, so to avoid another argument with her, I just cut my losses and did it for the price they quoted. Mug! :(
