Hi all,
would like advise on which course is best 1st : Prochem or NCCA.
been CC for 2 years , spent 3 months carrying water etc and asked lots of Qs on every job :-[ by a Grandad with 25 years experience B4 touching a wand etc. even though ive been on about 350 jobs (147 alone) Ive been taught 1 way only and would like to see other methods b4 I go TM next spring.
I know there other courses but it seems these are the most popular unless one of you chaps/chapeses
can give me some GOOD solid guidance.
At a push Possibly even would let me watch them in action on a job !!
Thanks R.T

NCCA ;) Prochem OK but centered around their products cheaper than the Ncca course though i think.
-
Hi Mark,
looked at course break down an it looks as if they dont touch on wet cleaning unless ive looked at it wrong ???
-
NCCA course will centre on HWE Ricky.
-
I have done the NCCA course but not the Prochem.
Prochem will be fine but they will obviously promote their products (which are OK).
NCCA dont promote any particular product (though I did get freebies as supplied by a number of suppliers).
2 day course - Fri & Sat - at Leicester which is resonably central for all.
Different types of machines to play with ie HWE, rotary, CRB
Benefit of NCCA is that if you pass the test (which is straight forward) you can pay a fee to become a member.
If YOU promote the fact you are a member - like you promote other benefits of the client choosing you to clean their carpets - then you will find it works for you........ and thats a fact cause I do just that.
-
Cheers re-read it , looks likes its Leicester ere I cum .
Take it you pay the £232 every year for the membership and then pas86 on top ?
Thanks R.T

I've done both and they're excelent courses with sound instruction. If you do the Prochem carpet and upholstery, the price will work out about the same as the NCCA's combined carpet and upholstery.
NCCA is generic whereas virtually all Prochem's content is related to their own products (quite rightly too) If you are considering joining the NCCA, then do the NCCA course as this training is compulsory (one or two other generic courses are acceptable qualifications though). If you don't wish to join the Association, then geography may well be a deciding factor in your choice. Given you're level of experience, you may just about be knowledgeable enough to look beyond the branding of Prochem training and gain as much from it as on the generic course of the NCCA.
If it was me choosing for my technicians, I would use NCCA unless Prochem was on my doorstep.
Safe and happy cleaning :)
Ken
PS If you are about to buy some new Prochem equipment, you may be able to negotiate a training course into the deal ;)
-
Cheers Joe,
Got the other 2 But CRB ???
Going later this month
-
Pas86 optional Ricky the course manual with NCCA very good and instructors top notch. However i think you can get a free Prochem course if you buy a Prochem machine.
-
Thanks Ken,
I only have prochem Products in the Vivaro but I have been looking at others even though
Prochem give me ace results ever time ( upto Now) I think its wise to see what else is about
You seem like you know ur oats , how are you on TMs, want new but been told to go 2nd
hand .
Thanks R.T
-
Cheers Joe,
Got the other 2 But CRB ???
Going later this month
Contra Rotating Brushes ie as in Host or Envirodri, and others - are you conversant with those?
-
if youve got the money, do them both, there just as good as each other, i did both, you learn so much more the second time you do one, allthough that might not relate to you as i'm guessing you know a bit all ready, where as i was a complete novice.

Why thankyou Ricky.
Never had a T/M, although I've played with quite a few.
New or S/H is full of pros and cons, so it's a personal decision you'll need to make for yourself once you've done all of your research.
Having dragged a porty around the West Midlands for the last 28 years, I'm beginning to get a little bit tired these days, so if I was looking at upgrading to a trucky, the HydraMaster Boxxer 318 offers me everything I'd need for my business. If I was more into the hospitality side of commercial, then I'd probably need something bigger, maybe a Prochem Everest 8)
Safe and happy cleaning :)

Joe,
erm in a word no but have an idea CRB is now . got 2 steam-pros and numatic rotary at the min but

Thanks R.T
-
Ken,
west mids eh , not to far from me in rainy staffs.
by ek that everest is a bit on the steep side but it seems to do it all (except make a cupa !)

Ricky
if you buy equip from prochem you get a free course, but IMO it is a waste of time.
You would be better off doing their 2day one.
After saying that the NCCA is the best ;D but they dont recommend one particular company.
I`v just bought a 318 from Hydramaster and i cant recommend them enough, their service is great.
Good luck in the future
Regards
Daryl
Ps i`m from DUDLEY
-
Hi Daryl,
Thanks for the guidance fella , cud i be real rude and ask if you would be willing to let me see
you using your all singing all dancing TM doing its job in real time.
ive found that a course will show things in an easy perspective but not how it is in the real world.
dudley bout an hours drive on the M6
Uttoxeter: home of the farmer and his sheep, cows, goats etc
Thanks either way R.T

I said i CAME from Dudley,
I live in BOURNEMOUTH, but yes you are more than welcome to come and see it in action.
I`v only had it for three weeks, it takes time to get used to it but the results are better, time is quicker, carpets drier and it makes the job easier ;D ;D
If you wanted to come and spend a day down here, i would try to get a full day at a couple of lettings as it would be easier without custys about :D
it may take a couple of weeks to try to arrange this, if your interested give us a call.
Regards
Daryl

Daryl,
Cheers , I will defo travel to see it in real time .
Ths Miss is about 3 weeks off having our child so it would be best back end of nov just b4 it gets
to that silly 2 month of non-stop work, if thats ok with you.
Thanks Fella

As long as i`v got some work then, fine
You could book a day out with Hydramaster instead,
as then they could show you more powerfull machines than i`v got,
(the 318 is their entry model)
On other forums at the moment is a large and heated debate whether people should go for a larger TM as it will do larger jobs, not restricted to domestic and small commercial.
For me at the moment the 318 is the only one that i could afford, not stretching myself to far with the doom and gloom of the credit crunch upon us.
If you can afford to go bigger then i would recommend to do so.
Daryl

You still happy with your 318 Daryl?
Ken the ultimate porty boy Hydramaster will have a real coup if they flog you a 318 :D
Mark
-
Have you made your mind up yet Mark?
If you cant push for a new one - what are your thought on going 2nd hand, either with the TM or the van or both?
-
Mark
i`m over the moon with it ;D ;D
best thing i have done.
Cleaned a really filthy indian carpet on thurs(cleaned it 3 mths ago)took me 2.5hrs ;) last time it took me 5hrs :'(
Carpet was a lot drier and i would say it was cleaner(i shouldn`t really)
but now i have time to go over it again.also i could do it first thing in the morning rather than late at night. ;D
That boat i cleaned, see other forum, was the sort of job i have been trying to get into, but i could not have done it 2 weeks ago before i had the 318. So i have allready expanded my business, and made my life easier ;D
i do agree that if you can afford it to get a larger one, but as i`ve told you if your happy with the size of jobs your doing at the moment and want to do slightly bigger ones the 318 is ideal but if you want really big jobs its not big enough.
Those big jobs are few and far between, therefore for your every day jobs, you would be using a sleadgehammer to crack a walnut.
Any luck with getting the money off the BOSS ;D

Daryl great pics ;) do you loose much power with those vertical runs?, Joe nearly made my mind up hope to have news this week.
Mark
David did you mean 30p s/f ?
-
ive got 1200 sq meters to clean (hopefully) and theres no way i'm quoting £3600,
100% sure i wouldn't get the job if i quoted that much, be nice though.

Mark
no i haven`t lost any power
there was only 2 lengths on :)
If i had tried to do this with my porty i would have had to take it on board,
f#ck knows what kind of damage i could have done by trying to get it that high, up narrow stairs and walk ways plus there was no power or water.
They were that pleased with the result on the 2 arm chairs( water damaged)
I am going back on wednesday to do the rest of the upholstry ;D ;D

Prochems products are ok I can not say anything about their training as I have not done it. I have done the NCCA two day course and get jobs in my area directly from people looking at their website! The instructors Paul Pearce and Pawlo were absolutely excellent teachers and went through the course in great detail. I also use it as a marketing tool to customers which helps me to convert 80%-85% of enquiries into jobs. Good luck mate 8)

Hi Riky
we are running a chemspec course down in Bath (advanced spot and stain) if it is not too far to come.
The course has a good reputation and the products are excellent.
let me know if you want more info.
