Hi Folks
I am selling my business due to bad health. I don't want a lot for it. most of the value is in the customer database (over 1,000). My average job is £104. If someone was prepared to mailshot my clients they would have their investment back in about 6-8 weeks!! plus I would pass on all work enquiries. Hi mate, sorry to hear you're not too well :(
I'm just down the road from you in Kettering. I'd be interested to have a chat with you and find out a bit more.
Busy doing quotes for the rest of the day but I'll get in touch with you in the next couple of days.

would be intrested in your database are they regular customers
so what company are you jim im also in kettering
-
Hi Nick, I'm ServiceMaster. And you?
-
Is the bulk of your work found for you Jim by the company.
On an earlier post you also said you can use any chemicals you want, that surprised me as I thought the biggest drawback with a franchise is having to use there chemicals and having to buy so much per month whether you needed them or not.
Has all that changed now?
-
It's never ever been like that in SM, can't say anything else about any other franchises for sure... although some people "say" that about CD, whetehr it's true or not I don't know.
The only thing is, support. If I do a job that results in a complaint and I've not used SM products, they cannot and will not give me any support on a technical level. Totally understandable, but what the hell, I don't really get complaints, never had an issue that wasn't very simple to resolve with a re-visit and quick zip round to catch a few spots I'd missed. Can count the times that's happened on the fingers on half a hand :)
The biggest drawback with a franchise is when you have a really good month followed by a really crap month. In the crap month you're paying fees that stretch your cash flow. Of course, the silver lining is that when you panic and pull out all the stops to get more work in the following month after that, you're paying less fees due to your previous crap month so your profit margin is better.
There are so many misconceptions about franchising, it makes me laugh some of the bowlocks I read on here :D

I think I am right in saying you are the only that has said it works for them, and plenty say do not do it.
But judging by the vans I see on the road they must be doing something right.
Off to bed, it is 2am again and got bloody wages to do tomorrow :(

Ian, I'm struggling to understand why would he want to put his database on eBay? At least on here he's likely to get a bit more of a personal contact with a prospective buyer... you never know, he might care what happens to all those loyal customers who've paid his mortgage over the years!
And why would you want to buy it? You're in London aren't you? The database is centred around an old shoe making town east Northants!
Nick - hi mate, you were really grumpy with me when I said Hi in the petrol station a little while ago! :D
