Went out this morning to find the cars covered in frost bit of a bummer,,,,,,,,,,,,,,still waiting for summer!!!!

on the positive side, it's a stunning day now with cloudless sky as far as the eye can see.

More to the point the 1st snow fell up north we could be in for a good snowboard season ;D

What do you do to keep the van frost free (hoses etc) in frosty times :-\

I have a chill chain system that kicks in below a certain temp, raising the temp to a safe level, although I haven't tested it yet ::)

Thankfully i have a garage to put my van in but few years ago i left it out and the first job i did my pump was frozen :o

Have garage seperate from house and have spent the summer sealing it and putting in electric so I can keep it warm. Used to leak like a sieve.
Dont get frost around here until dec

i'm going to put an oil filled electric heater in the back of my van, does anyone know if there is anything i can get that will switch the heater on when it gets below a certain temp?

Bet it has its advantages mind you keeping your viking larger cold ;D ;D

Be careful of the condensation from doing that, when i used to do it in my van the water used to drip off everything in the morning and the Van was soaking wet.

Run some window screen washer through your pumps .

Remember to rinse it out the next day though, could be disastrous! ;)
Derek the heater should have a thermostat on it, so you leave it switched on permanent and it just clicks on and off at the set temp.
I'm popping in to screwfix in the week to have a look at heaters, these don't seem too bad for the money:

You can buy the oil filled radiators with a thermostat on then that kick in at a certain temp. You can get them in Argos.
I find the wand valve is the first to go and dont want to get cought out again this year.

i need an oil filled heater as i have petrol fumes in the van. if i use a heater like the one you just posted then, BANG!!!! and the van is gone.

We have used oil filled rads in the past. you can buy from places like wilkos a timer device....you plug it into your socket then plug your heater into it.

neil, i have used an oil filled radiator for years and never had a hint of condensation, i wonder if it depends on the van you have. what's a chill chain system?

I used a oil rad last winter , condensation was a issue I hope someone comes up with a idea to resolve it, I was thinking about a vent on top off me van

Unless i am mistaken Derek was going to use a Oil lamp heater that you burn a flame on, gardeners use them in greenhouses.
If you dont have electric that you can run to your Van your options are very limited.

Eberspacher diesel or parafin cab heater.
There are always lots on ebay. Easy to fit if you dont use the vans diesel supply and cheap to run.
Nothing nicer then getting into a warm van with no ice on any of the windows on a cold winters morning.

Derek not joking Screen wash OK on my Porty pump but you would need a lot to run through a TM :)
And Jim's right did forget one morning lucky it was a trashed rental. Antifreeze OK in cars so why not your TM but i would consult manufacturer first.

Anyone used one of the tube type of heaters, thats what i`ve been looking at
as i cant have a fan etc because of the petrol tank to the TM
