Title: £1.50 per m2 for cleaning panels on buildings???
Post by: RO-Sheen on September 27, 2008, 03:48:54 pm
I asked help on a quote for cleaning the external metal walls on the front of an industrial unit a few weeks ago and 1 person replied with £1.50 per m2.

The building is just dusty and cobwebby so nothing too difficult.

Is £1.50 about right? Im wfp.

I was thinking of wfping and then getting up there with a ladder to dry it off. Thoughts please on price and method.

Adie

Sorry, should mention, areas that need cleaning are the white panels under the 1st floor windows, panels under ground floor windows and the large corrugated area at the far end of the building (right handside of photo)

Even with the photo it's hard to tell because i can't see how bad the dirt is!
Do you clean the windows between the 1st floor panels and ground floor panels if not you are going to have to because they will get dirt all over them, so allow for this in your quote.
How long do you think it will take you, people on here have different speeds and prices but it's all down to how long it will take YOU and what you want for that amount of time.
as for getting up there on a ladder i don't think it's worth it just give it plenty of water and rinse.
hope this helps

hi Wightsurf

Its not too dirty. I ran a damp wfp (no running water) over a patch just to see how easy it would clean and the dirt came off very easily. Its just a buildup of dust and cobwebs.

I havent got a clue how long it would take as I have never cleaned a building before (hence this request for help on quoting) I cleaned the windows 2 weeks ago and when I finished the director came out and asked me to quote to clean the building.
I popped over there this morning and going on £1.50 per m2 it came to just under £500. I woud have thought I could get ti done in a day! If that price is right its not a bad days work!

Yes i think a day would be more than enough time to do that job, so how much do you want to earn in a day?

I would rather not say how much I can earn in a day but maybe that is what I should charge. Thanks for confirming that it is a days work. On a previous post other posters were saying it could be done in an hours work!  I reckon they must be from Planet Octopus!

Wash all metal panels glass and white panels.

Cleaning the whole front is so much better than trying to do some bits and not others

Clean it all wfp, metal panels with old brush and water/tfr mix, it will come up looking like new.

Then finish off with wfp all glass. Don't worry about spiders it is easy to tell between a fresh new web and a ddirty old one.

Whole job take a morning charge £225 guarantee client will be delighted.

Don't forget the before and after photos

good luck

Gordon

I have 6 of them next week to do the same type of building.
It will take about 2 hours WFP im expecting mine to be about 4 hours each as they have some cement on them.
But that is without glass as they will take me a few hours each also as there covered in stickers, cement.

I wish i could get £500 for them that are not builders cleans i would be loaded

Thanks Gordon and Paul.

The annoying thing is that I just did the windows 2 weeks ago!!

I will do it as Gordon suggests.

Paul - Unfortunately I wont be earning £500 either. That is how much it would have worked out if I had charged £1.50 per m2 as someone suggested.

Yes thats the things with forums you have to take a lot of stuff with a pinch of salt but gordons price is about right.

£150 sounds about right and should take half a day, dont bother wiping them off after, thats why we use pure, otherwise we would use tap water and then wipe off the wet.
