Hi All
Just wanted to tell everyone about my best day ever. Got a call on Monday asking about a protection job from a PA based in London.
Told customer that I cant price on the phone and will need to see it, she came back with the coment, its only 8 bedrooms, 3 flights of stairs and 3 reception rooms. Heart starts beating faster because its obviously a massive Job. I stick to my guns and still said I need to see but I can do it straight away on the Thursday afternoon, that was excepted and the owner would meet me their.
Turns out the owner is a major car making family heiress and the carpets that needed protecting were over 4500 feet, not even half the house and had only been laid in the days before.
Agreed price and did the Job whilst she was their, did job and she was really happy. Before I started I gave her an information pack about Maintenance plans for cleaning and protection and as I was about to leave she asked if she could sign up for this and what would it cost if you cleaned every 3 months, said I could price for you and give it to you now if you want. I was cr.pping myself when i worked out the price as it came in out at over £12,000 and did not know what to do, my head was saying you cant charge that much but I just gave it to her and she said great. She wrote me a cheque out for the lot their and then even though she had not signed the contract as I needed to raise it at home later. She did not want to pay by direct debit.
Last night I get a phone call from PA saying would I like to do another Job for them in Londons Holland Park as they are having their house renovated, asked when she would like me to come up and she said Saturday if you can take a look at it. Obviously I bent over backwards to accomadate them.
The reason I post this is because this all came from the internet through a google search, and I was about to take a step back from CC as I was getting worried about the future and we have been excepted for a move to Australia. My little old out of date website has bought me in my biggest contract ever and pretty much paid for my business expenses for the next year.
This is what I love about this Job because you never know who you will meet and what will happen around the corner. This has recindled my flame for this business and I am just so happy that people like what I do. Theirs not many Jobs where you can meet with these sort of people. I am so happy.
Have a happy day

Hi Neil
Sometimes we make our own luck so don't think that you have not deserved this sort of job! if it was not for a good simple, clean website, your determination to rank highly on google and your sales expertise on the job, none of these elements would have come together!
Well done ;D
Now I've made you puff out your chest like a rooster, here comes the cheeky bit :D
Any chance that you could send me a copy of that contract you have, I have never tried selling maintenance to my custys as I would be unsure on the wording of an agreement. You can tell me to push off but if you are feeling charitable please could you send it to tim@mcsclean.co.uk.
Regards
Tim

Hi Guys
Thanks for all the compliments, it has come at a good time because after all the effort I have put in i was getting a bit fed up with it but this has revitalised me somewhat.
Will send copies of my original maitenance plane that I got a few years ago, I have changed mine to suit my needs but it will give you an idea of what to do.
Cheers

Good on you Neil
That is a years wages for a lot of people down here, remember how much money it actually is and spend it wisely.
the one thing i have found since being in this game is that £100 seems like peanuts to us but when i was employed it was a fortune!

Jobs like that do not come up often.
Pleased for you, just wish it would happen to me!

Neil
Congrats big time ;) Well pleased for you.
It just goes to show you that being in the right place at the right time and selling yourself to the best of your ability can certainly pay off.

Neil well done mate ;)

Good one Niel. The only concerns I have about maintainance plans when they dont want to pay monthly, and pay up front, is that you now owe them, instead of the other way round. If you spend the money and something around the corner happens, and you cannot work for a long time, in other words you can't service the contract????
Dave.

Nice one, I am still building my site and I am putting the effort in it because your story isn't the only one I have heard. That just highlights how important web sites are, can't stress it more myself.
So when are you moving to Aussie land? I am sure it's on pause now, one good turn deserves another. Welcome to London.
Keep it up and don't be afraid to show your price and quality work in London you were probably cheap.
-
Not really a concern as I can always get someone else to cover if needs be, Money in the bank is always nice and I just have to feed off it carefully.
Got the Holland Park Job aswell. I have put Aussie on hold for a little while but we will go at somepoint. The bonus of getting clients like this is that it will make the busienss very sellable when I want to move on.
I am going to start targetings London area's a bit more just to test the water, for the right jobs its worth the hasle of going into London
