Title: Rinse & Prespray
Post by: CleanerCarpets on September 22, 2008, 10:19:14 pm
Hi!!

I use a portable HWE machine & normally use an alkaline prespray sometimes with a booster. For a long time i would rinse with Alltecs Ultimate Master & always got good results. The only 'problem' i had with Ultimate Master was you couldnt exceed 65 degrees in the machine as anything above that means the self neutralizing aspect doesnt work as i am aware. So, for the last month i've been trying other additives in my HWE machine - mainly acidic rinses so i could try higher heat on some carpets.

problem is - even just over a few weeks ive noticed the heater filament has started to corrode from the acidic rinse & after calling Alltec they have confirmed that type of rinse is bad in a big way for the machine - so i will no longer be using acidic rinses!!

So - does anyone use an Ultimate Master alternative thats non corrosive, self neutralising but can take higher heat?

Also - what sort of temps do others use ?  i like the heat factor for drying but worry about any problems too much of it can cause.

Thank you!!

Jase

Use HM Clearwater  acid rinse but wash the pump out with plain water at end of day.

Check out the Alltech Website. Ultimate Master is recommended for tm and portable so I can see no problem with temp. You could also try Rinse Free Poweder from Hydramaster

You could also try using microsplitters or colloids which only require a plain water rinse ;)

Jase,

I am surprised you are having so much trouble with acidic rinses. I have used them almost exclusively for years in my portables and tm with no problems. Are you leaving solution in the clean tank at the end of the day so that the element sits in it overnight ?

Chemspec High Heat is another chemical you could look at. Apparently it is designed to retain its cleaning properties at high temperatures. It is also slightly acidic so it can be used in conjunction with alkaline presprays.

Powders can adhere to the copper surface and build up, giving the appearance of corrosion. Are you sure it's corrosion thats taking place?

Same as Jim really use Pureclean on most jobs, then use acid rinse on jobs where required and this clears out any buildup.

Mike,
Next time you use Pureclean as a pre-spray, half the dilution ratio. Use 1 scoop to 2 litres of water instead if 1 scoop to 1 litre it works just as well and saves money at the same time.
my supplier sugessted i do this, ive no idea why ???
But it does work just as well, even on really trashed carpets.
I cant get good results on wool berber with Pureclean for some reason!
