people talking about this on other thread
ive just been out, filled it other day, £100, 400 miles so far and im on the notch below half way
easy 600 miles out of it.
52 plate, 1.9dti, 36,000 miles full service history
your vans should defo be doing more miles not 450!
-
I agree you should be getting more than 450-600 you have a van now with a much bigger fuel tank, the trouble is people that have had smaller vans are comparing fuel consumption with the 2 vans and there`s no comparison. You would be better off trying to compare your van with something like a transporter or merc vito to give you an idea whether it`s good on fuel or not.
-
If you only got £100 in there was already £20-odd in there.
It's a 90 litre tank.
Times that by 128.9p.
£116 to fill it.
Bet you don't use air-con either.
That will take a few mpg away over time.
And mines a 2.0L engine.
-
The version you have Squeaky is a totally different van much better than the old IMO i`ve driven both, the engine in the new 1 is the new euro4.
-
yeh i think the most i put in is about 112.50 when it was proper empty
what im saying is to a full tank not so much the cost
other people are saying your only getting 400 - 450 miles out of tank

do you think you would get more mpg if you put in 20 quid at a time?....
then you not dragging around an extra 90 kilos of weight. ;)
-
Trafic on 53 plate, 70k, about 550 on a tank, half mway, half central london.

I rarely put more than £20 in at a time.
Probably stems back to a really shoddy Cavalier I had years ago.
I filled the tank up and the next got a hole in the sump and smashed a con-rod.
Car was towed away and scrapped and I lost all me fuel. ;D

I don't know if you mean my post(s) but 450 is usually the maximum I will take it to. However, I can see from the receipts that there would still have been 10 or even 15 litres left when I fill to the brim so it could certainly have done over 500 miles to a tankful if I were prepared to risk running the tank right down. The rest of the discrepancy in figures may be caused by my carrying a ladder on top. Do you carry a ladder all the time as well? If not, that could explain much about the differing figures.
-
i wasnt having a go ;D
just saying that i get some good mileage and some of you dont
i dont carry ladders, remember im ladderless :P

We have a 57 Vivaro, carry a set of double and a set of trebles on roof, 2 pointers,800l tank, 2 100m hose reels and 3 poles + other equipment - get about 530 miles before we fill up and ususally takes 70 to 80 litres
-
£40 gets me between 200 and 22o miles depending whether i am doing a lot of motorway miles or am doing a lot of stopping and starting.

I'm wondering if the newer engines are a bit more economical. Mine's a '03 plate. I do drive fairly gently too.

Sounds like the fuel was worth more than the car. I've had cars like that too. :)

Petrol was about 60p a litre then too.
Them were the days... :(
-
more expensive petrol is, the less tax we pay lol
try n think of it like that ;D
-
my 04 vivaro 1.9cdti does about 600miles on a full tank.thats with a 750 ltr system in the back. and its 50/50 motorway and town driving. the vans done 102k
-
LWC yours is getting more miles per gallon than others because your round is so spread out i believe, so your van is on a run more than the guys who don't stray out of their local area.
-
I rarely go more than 5 or 6 miles, and spend time going in and out of steep drives and up and down hilly country lanes.
With air-con on.
Also Chepstow is awful for queues and traffic gridlock.
I reckon 400-450 miles per £100 is as good as I can expect.
