been doing this house for a while now, took over from another wfp'er. she didt like it when he did it, but she decided to have me, done them probably about 5 times. it is really hard to do, i dont know why but for some reason it always leaves marks, nor matter how much you scrub or rinse. anyway, what i do she seemed happy with which i thought was great
so did it again thursday, and again it was a boiling hot day, dont think ive ever done it in the hot lol, and she rang this morning.
"hi its bla bla"
"oh yes"
"you did my windows the other day but theyve gone all streaky"
"oh right all of them?"
"no just a few, i knew this system was rubbish anyway so what do you expect"
so hit me hard there, i was like hmm thanks for that comment
"oh right, ive got hundreads of customers and theyre all really happy with it"
"mmmm not what ive heard. like i say it doesnt work but you dont use ladders so what can you do"
i dont invest the money that i have spent lightly! ill be going back, doing affected windows and will be telling them that i dont think its suits them.
fair enough some windows just dont take to wfp, but dont tell me its rubbish and doesnt work!!!!!! >:(

When I had time to think i phoned back to say i'd trial it for free, but got a fax machine. (i do a few sash georgian no probs).

LWC i have been reading your various posts these last few days and you seem to be getting a lot of complaints,it`s either your customers don`t like the fact that you have a new van or your still using fan jets.

It`s not that they don`t like your van it`s probobly the fact that they like it to much ie there jealous and think your doing to well for there liking,it can happen you get a new van all of a sudden they don`t want it done so often and out of the blue your doing a shoddy job in there eyes because your there less than half the time.

I know that you are a ladderless WC.. But did you not carry ladders for jobs like this ::)
I hate using them ;D But some jobs need ladders.. This job sounds like a pain. But if the job is a good payer that needs ladders then Why not ;)
BTW
I can see that you put the tank inside this new van and not on the roof as the last one ;D

I`m being honest with you,i`ll bet most of the complaints you get now are down to the green eyed monster.Your doing well you`ve got a new van etc got plenty of work, some people can smell it when your doing well and some people don`t like it.It`s a sad fact of life and this country especially is full of them.

Saying that i got done the other day. Green finger(legal term but you know who i mean) delivering leaflets said he was sales director for group franchise while I was working.
Asking me am i a franchise, how much do I charge for the house, how many can I do in a day? ans £10 ,true, and about thirteen,not true.
So then I ask him.Four vans one operator per van thirty calls a day and £500 each expected. Ulp ! Gutted.

i agree ...i had a similar problem when i got a new van....its as if the customer is paying for it....but they dont realise its through hard work :(

Don't believe them, its all lies to suck in the gullable. These people are vultures, they prey on the vunerable.
With all the people getting thrown out of work in the financial sector at the moment there will be lots of mugs for them to rob.

no i dont carry ladders anymore,(i ave access to some if i need to) i havent cleaned a window off a ladder now for about 2 years, bar some high insides, and the odd builders clean, if the windows are really that bad ill offer to do downs trad, but if you start doing the odd ups for people then there be others saying "well he does theres off a ladder, why cant you do mine off a ladder"
im not against ladders, id still use em if i had to, but ive invested alot of money now so its against my religion to use them lol ;D

why should you not live comfortably, if it was up to the customer, we would drive around in 10 year old fiesta's and dropping down there price, but the truth is when you buy cheap you get cheap... its the same for just about everything. My point on its way here... If you bought an old van, didn't get it sign written, and didn't buy new equipement... your van might brake down and you then have vechile repairs and lost trade, dont get it sign written and you dont get the same volume of customers to soak up some of your anual expenses, leaving you with a lower pay rate, and you dont get new equipement they get a lower quality job, because you dont have the best tools for the job. So if they pay good money, they deserve the best, and with your van etc thats what there getting.
However I dont think thats why you got that compaint. I read on here about the guy that was involved in the developement of the squeegee, not ettore but the fantom shinner. He was trying to sell his squeegee's and nobody was interested, but once they seen the guy doing the same job in no time at all everyone was wanting one, but it took time and determination.
So to reflect maybe if your customers are a little dubious, and I am sure there are only one or two, but to put others minds at rest and the new customers who have not seen the method before, why not think about some sort of introduction pack, letter explaining how it works and possibly a dvd with it being done. Explain that by investing in this new meathod and enabling us to work faster allows us to keep you price low.
As for the customer with the smart remarks, just drop her. If you dont want to work off a ladder and she doesn't fit the profile then pass it on to a trad window cleaner, and just get another two.

i had 2 customers telling me this week that the windows are being left streaky because of the pole so i told them that i would come back at tea time and have a look at the problem, if they are streaky i would re do them.. went back and guess what not a single spot on either of the customers... one of them is a right sour old bag, i asked her what the prob is she said bird stuff, what bird muck? no its like a bird has flown into the window. i seen it before i cleaned it so scrubbed hard... i said do you know why the birds are flying into the windows, its because there that clean it dosnt see them.. she even had a giggle at what i said the sour old....

If you get customers being sheepish to you once you have a new sparkling new van and r'n'w system, cant you just advise them, you are approximately 16K in dept and paying via finance. (if you are in that position or not).
However you can advise them you are a professional and keeping up with legislation, and you are investing in your profession for the next 10+ years.
