A nice big house slap-bang in the centre of Putney. And that was the problem...absolutely no parking to be had anywhere.
I hate turning down work >:(
What circumstances makes you guys turn down work?
-
If the job is too big and I cant fit it in
If they want an odd rotation that will have me moving about my other customers allot
If they dont pay regualarly
If, and I hate this, you go by and they on want one of two of there windows done, and say they can do the rest themselfs. It end up too small a job.
If they are regularly not in when you go by and have allot of trouble trying to collect money
Fortunately, this is only a minority
Also, possible do it after 5.30 when the parking inspectors finnish and just illegally park. Or even on a sunday morning if its worth your while.

Hi Gerard, of course it's possible but not practical.

The only ones I turn down are usually just ones that are too small and out of the way, not worth the time or fuel getting to, or ones that are just too difficult and fiddlley to do. But I live in the country so theres not usually alot of parking probs.

Simon
We had this conversation at the end of last year. When you say there is no parking in Putney - there really is no parking. You,ve got to have tried to park a work vehicle to understand.

There are loads of places in London where there is simply nowhere to park and those places where you can park are jammed solid with cars belonging to people who live streets away and only use them at the weekend.
Its a real problem, and its getting worse. I have had two parking tickets this year from cameras. You don't even know you have been caught until the letter arrives in the post.

I think the point of the thread is that he cant actually park there.
Its pointless saying you'd only turn a job down if the ladders didnt reach if in fact you couldnt park there in the first place to take your ladders off. Some postings on here really do defy belief.

Okay, guess so, apologies.
I did my old trick of not reading thoroughly.
Sorry.

I turned down a very big job I quoted a couple weeks ago when I turned up to do the initial clean and discovered the very, very, big guard dog, massive and fierce. Don't mind normal size dogs, but this was like a horse with lots of snarling teeth. Customer dumped and a call to say why.

What did they say?

take aways ! greasy and always start off saying they will clear everything away from the inside window and before long renege ! they almost always stick posters on the windows as well !
