Title: Egg on windows
Post by: Chris G on September 18, 2008, 08:05:47 pm
I've been asked to clean some flats and a lot of them haven't been cleaned for nearly two years, now three of the flats have been 'egged' but the egg has been on there for about 6 months!!, any ideas on how to get it off after such a long time.
I am getting a back pack set up, possiblty the Surflo and want to use it on these flats and wonder if it will be up to removing stuff like egg and mud.

Chris - I had a similar case and the egg was well and truly baked on. only way to shift it was a metal scraper before cleaning!!

Would just soaking it with pure water and leaving it a while not soften it? pw seems to work miracles...

I always find white spirit removes many things, leaves a nice shine too. The only thing it tends not to remove is limescale from tap water.

Use a scrapper on a pole wet window first though.

Otherwise you will be there all day

I do a block of sheltered flats for people with learning difficulties.  The local s***bags take delight in egging the "weirdoes" windows.  It happens every time and I've told them it will be £X extra to scrape it off, so they just tell me to do the best I can with pure water, but it never touches the stuff.
