Hi,

I used one last month just for one night to get a taster for a new area I was considering. I asked for £250 worth Of work . They achieved this. They came across as professional on the phone, but when they turned up they looked a right shower with no uniforms apart from the boss. One had his leg in plaster & was hopping up & down garden paths. I feel if they looked more professional they would get a far better response from the householder.  The boss followed up with after care calls & I feel was generally interested in providing a good service.

I decided this area was not for me in the end.

mine is 2x but only 1.5 when work complete and .5 after first clean and no problems, they are all uniformed  ;) so I am happy for them to talk about my company and give the right impression

sounds like your sorted, I am guessing 8k of work was in your time span as that is a long time for that amount.

In my opinion if its £8,000 worth of quality work, it should not matter if it takes till February to get this amount. In my experience its not about how little or how much the company are costing or how quickly they can build you a round, its about quality of work, customers perception of the canvasser on their door step or on the telephone, its all about trusting the canvasser to make the right impressions. At the end of the day its your hard earned money and its worth remembering, you never get something for nothing.  WW who's uniform do they wear? Yours or something with canvassing team on it? As i would not want them wearing that, i want them to give the impression that they work for my company not on behalf of. Just my opinion of course.

if you employ them you have to watch what thier doing, make sure thier pricing right, just generally more hassle i found, plus i found it hard to get people to work on a comission only basis. I've got 6k in work being canvassed at the moment. if i had to employ people to do that in 10 weeks it would be a major headache!!

not for me i'm afraid

Yeah? Thats cool, i respect your knowledge ive never been down that route before, i was planning on taking them out and showing them what prices i wanted and then going out a couple of evenings myself too, but i dont want the work overnight so to speak, just in trickles so i can keep up with it while im on my own for now till got enough to start someone part time...
I used to work for a canvassing firm and i rang my old manager recently to ask him for some numbers of lads who dont get jobs at his place so i can offer them work, so i think it might be okay, i reckon you would have the same probs with a company if they weren't good enough - bad prices etc, whereas a good canvasser will do the same job, whatever suits you i suppose!

He might already have 6000, how do you know....not having a pop at you gaz, but this forum is full of that tone recently, everyone has a negative opinion on others goals and plans, i reckon its achievable if he has lads working for him and is working hard, might not be achievable for others, its all relative to what you want to achieve, and will do to achieve it, ....and on that note, im going to work!

not a negative comment, i never pull anyone who is working hard to achieve goals, maybe i should have said ... i could not achieve that. alone. eh.  ;)

besides, its a forum for both sides of the coin, not all can be positive,

you have to look at negatives before positives can be achieved.

without the word negative.. the word positive would not exist.

bloody hell .. im cracking up  ;D ;)

2 men out of 1 van , 1 van mount , 1 trolley , prepared to work in almost all weather , this is achieveable in the south , by the way i swerve the trolley myself as i hate them but i drop the lad who has just started for off with a couple of tubs of water and its working very well regards alan
