I currently use formula 90 but was wondering about giving u/m a try.Opinions appreciated

Hi Steve
I have used both these products in the past to good effect...I always used them as a pre-treatment although in both instances the suppliers say you can use them through rinse cycle.
I ALWAYS prefer to rinse any pre-treatment chemical

Derek what will be the dwell time if you use these type of detergents?
I love MS because realistically there is none and also will formula 90 be too higher ph for wool?

I use Ultimate Master because it seems dead easy to use and I get excellent results.
I have not tried Formula 90

Steve do you use the powder or the liquid? F90 liquid is woolsafe approved at 600-1 and above dilition.
I have 2 x 20kl of F90 powder in my shed that I stopped using because I found it never full disolved and always left a scum in the bucket (although this was when I mixed a concentrate to put in my T/M tank.)
I think U/M is woolsafe approved because it dries neutral, I used it years ago and found it OK, but then I cleaned everything with the same chemical.

Mike I have used both the liquid and powder but prefer the powder I found it dissolves well with hot water the liquid is too concentrated. Alltec do a liquid ulimate master designed for truckmounts but I cannot see anything about it being woolsafe?

Hi Steve
Have used both in the past, powdered fomula 90 from Chemspec is buffered and you will find it hard to beat on heavy soiled carpets.Great product

what ph does powdered formula 90 dry to?
I was thinking about for applying protector afterwards

I find Formula 90 excellent on manmade or as a last resort on trashed wool if I am using it in the tank as opposed to M/s & water rinse. I wouldnt apply a protector directly after using it ,or any other detergent as I am sure it would have a negative effect on its performance.

I found u/m to be good,but then i switched to m/s,
i could be wrong, but i think you will find Alltec reforulated u/m and it is no longer woolsafe!

Dave's right.
The current Ultimate Master is not Woolsafe approved. I used to use it a few years ago, with excellent results, but I found it to be aggressive on my brass/copper fittings.
Liquid Formula 90 needs to be at 1:960 (ph9.5) for Woolsafe Approval. Powdered Formula 90 is pH 10.0-11.0 and, being buffered, I presume the residues would remain in that range.
Safe and happy cleaning :)

Dwell time on Formula 90.... never really timed it out....
prespray (F 90), agitate, thoroughly rinse out...if the rinse cycle is carried out properly to neutralise then protectors can be used
