Title: Working on Docklands buildings etc

All

I wonder if you can give me a steer. I hear that guys working cleaning the big tower blocks in Doclkand and London earn a good living. Any idea of the firms who do this work and what ya need to get taken on? working at heights qualifiaction? How do I get one etc?

yeh sorry..........just spent the last 20 odd years of my life trying to build up a career and trying to do a job i love, only to have the rug pulled out from underneath me. I need to be able to earn enough to pay the bills etc.

please accept my sincere appologies if my questions are in anyway offensive.

so much promo on window cleaning and wfp
everyone seems to be jumping on it now
even my way there are blokes i dont know appearing all the time
i know many will fail but........ ::)

Yeh i understand what you are saying.
I did have a small round (only part time) a good few years back, I did it properly etc but the cost of insurance had me working for peanuts

Here hoping there is some light at the end of the tunnel

You need to go through IRATA training. This is done in the classroom and then on the job. You need to put in the hours on the ropes to get further on with IRATA. Takes a wee while to get properly qualified.

Looked into this before for myself and decided to sub anything like this to other firms who specialise.

get your IRATA level 1, (about £800) then try a firm called Shadbolt Roped Access, I think they take on level 1's. As a level 1 you can only work alongside a level 2 or 3, you can't work alone or with another level 1.
1000 hours and another £800 training session gets you a level 2. thats when you can work on your own.
To be fair you can earn more on pole work. lots more!

I want to quit my job and have done the sums and worked out how much i need to earn in order to keep my house and earn a half decent living.
I am told that hi rise docklands type work is where its at.
