As some of you may be aware (or dont care :) )....I have recently bought a new house...so I have been contacting various trades for things that require doing.
Now the amount of phone calls and emails I have sent is on the bordering on the rediculous ...had loads say they will return calls, many emails not responded to and a few no shows...now if trade guys need work how do they expect to get it when they do not respond.
I take pride in doing what I say I will do on the day I say I will do it...
Given that we as window cleaners use items such as phones and email how important do you think it is to respond and what time frames do you find acceptable?
Cheers
Dave.

If i don`t reply or sort things out straight away it plays on my mind so i like to get it sorted.

If your talking about builders..especially plasterers then think again if you want a quick answer..they are a different breed!!!
I always respond asap to enquiries (usually within the same day)

do you need a window cleaning quote? im reliable

I have recently decided not to answer calls after 18:30 and during weekends (sat morning excepted). Emails get an answer by the end of play the next working day at the latest.
This for me is acceptable...how about for you?
The only reason I raise this issue is that we for the most part use these 'instant' messaging systems and I as a user expect prompt replies and it boils me up to wait a week for a reply. Does this not send an unprofessional message back to the sender?
LWC You are more than welcome to come around and give me a quote ...do you know Brabant well? ;D ;D
Cheers
Dave.

Makes me think of a prob I had with a plumber. He agreed the job but took absoloutly ages to come. 2 weeks after the day he said he'd definitely come as I remeber. When he finally came round He disassembled my bathroom and then left it like that for 2 weeks, kept making excuses and just didnt care. I assumed people in trade would be as good at getting the job done as us window cleaners, but apparently alot are like that.

this is the reason i only use my mobile, when i get in from work the mobile is left unanswered ( my house has a poor signal, so that helps ;))
i once had some idiot phone me on a sunday night at about 12 to let me know she had been on holiday and would post the cheque in the morning, it was for 8 quid, the phone woke up my baby daughter and i was livid
thus the mobile only rule, i dont think its effected my biz in any way

A lot of the other trades like to start a job but then move onto start another job as the chances of you asking someone else to do it once its been started are very low. If i tell a custy that ill be there at 11 i will and if i am running late ill ring to let them know.
