How much demand for leather cleaning is there in comparison to fabric uholstery? more or less? sometimes I can go a month with no upholstery cleaning, I don't care as I hate upholstery cleaning! ;D but just wondering weather to target leather more and add it to advertising..
thanks Craig

I average about 2or3 fabric suites a week and lucky to do 10 leather suites a year.

People perceive cleaning a leather suite as within their capabilities, even though they mess it up but don't realise.
I stopped advertising fabric suite cleaning 18 months ago but they still keep ringing me. ::)

it depends
i have got 3 leather suite to clean next week
typical 3 piece to clean and refeed is £225 so its well worth it
most are white and can take a while
1 women phoned and asked if we do leather suites, not only did she book the suite at £282 but i am now doing the carpets at the same time
quote came to £440 but offered her a 10% discount to have them all done at once
doing it as my 2nd job on monday
so you never know where these enquries can lead

Colin,
What is a refeed?

Ah up John have you been away?
Leather jobs baffle mecurrently, but others are getting good money and loads of interest so I just need to work out how, not whether it's there.

I think you need to learn and offer not just cleaning but colour/finish repair also.

Thanks for the replys,
Can you tell me more about how much demand there is? I have not been asked to clean leather for a long time, last call for it may have been six months ago, but then I'm not advertising it.

If you clean carpets, you must be in 10 - 20 houses per week, all of whom will have seating. If you want to know about the opportunities that exist in cleaning leather upholstery, all you have to do, is talk to the customers with leather suites, which nowadays, is about one, in three.
But.....you said you hate cleaning suites, so why not stick to what you presumably like and market your carpet cleaning, more aggressively.
It's easy to get sucked in by what other people are doing, or appear to be doing and take your focus off your main business, or what you've proven to be good at.
-
Fair point but surely if you dont cater for cleaning suites either leather or fabric the customer will get someone who will to do their carpet also.

i always mention when in the house that we clean leather suites, most people dont know
really really busi at the mo so £500-£600 a day is common place
i dont think i charge a lot for leather, only that some others dont charge enough
and lets face it most people cant be bothered so are more than willing to pay someone to take away the burdon.
lets hope this busy period keeps up
quite a bit down on taking for the same time last year so a good Sep & Oct should bring me back on par
roll on xmas
