Title: Who has the power
Post by: Roger Slater on September 10, 2008, 12:13:46 am
Who actually has the power to ban members.

Do some of the mods or does admin have the overall say.

Even to restrict which areas of the forum could be posted on would be a help.
Allow someone to look but only post on the chat section would be a help.  ::)

lol.
I wanna say it but noticed my post has been deleted which has taken the wind outta my sails.
I don't really want to see anyone get kicked off, especially me. But it would be good to have someone who is on the wc side daily to have that big stick if needed.
It's easy enough to avoid posters topics but when it involves the majority of threads worth reading, it wound me up.
There is a chat section for pointless (non window cleaning) posts.
I lost my temper last night and was thinking about it all day with the intention of prolonging my post last night. But it's gone now and so has my anger.  :-*

I would like to see dave have those powers though. It would allow continuity.
I could only see myself leaving this forum if i was banned. And i don't want that to happen.

I deleted and locked a lot of posts last night.

I am working on ways to try and improve thing.

I have applied for superpowers, just waiting for the kryptonite to arrive.

Hopefully getting my latex suit next week

Moderators are Moderators just that.

IMO: I favor a moderation style that maintains a very high signal-to-noise ratio. Sometimes this requires being a bit heavy-handed, but we want these forums to be a powerful resource to help us grow.

Trouble makers should be kicked off, i agree, but only after investigation not on just hear say or tip offs.
Moderators going around asking for names as trouble makers should not be moderators.

Dave you have made a fundamental mistake of over-seeing a forum as a moderator asking for this type of lead.

The banning of members should only be admins decision final.

Using your initials I think you should be known as ....."DANGER MOUSE"

Think you read it as I initially did that Dave said "Any suggestions on the name appreciated".... as in naming the troublemaker, but he really meant  he wants a name for a superhero ;D

Roger

Of course i know who the trouble makers are.

I have never asked anyone to tell me who they are, i normally see trouble as it arises, along with reports i recieve through email.

Trouble is you dont get to see what i see. Most of it is acted on before anyone else see's it.

I dont think i do to bad, but your points have been noted and will be considered for future use.

Thank You for your observations

Criykey Dave don`t you get fed up with all those emails from grumpy old women complaining about how a certain post annoyed them. ;D ;D

Trouble is, you have to get changed in a telephone box and there aren't so many around these days.  Would save have to use a pole anyway. Could just fly up and clean the windows.

I seem to remember you talking in riddles with this very phrase before, now Im not stupid, dumb, ignorant or ill-educated, but could we please have it in English from now on?
