Hi all
Do you have a standard rate for rug cleaning.
I don't do many and I have got 2 "small" ones to collect tomorrow locally.
I'm only going to use microsplitters, sebo duo and extract -I assume this will suffice.
Regards
Steve
PS: How the hell am I now a Cleanitup God ? at this rate Derek will be a god within a fortnight based on the number of posts he submits ;D
No offence mate :)

If it helps Steve we do min charge if they're small, and charge more if they are 'take away' service.
60p-80p sq ft in situ (we explain that its a light clean), and approx 1.40-1.80 sq ft for area rugs/orientals (take away). Up to 4.00 sq ft for expensive orientals (not standard). If the rugs are manked then you can safely go detergents, but if chinese be careful no to go too strong and not so much heat, and definately dont dry in the sun with chinese!

Has anyone asked Johnsons Dry Cleaners how much they charge I believe they send them to Frakilins
Kev do you charge same for Polyproplenes?

steve
with prices, set your hourly rate and then you can work out any price from that. we all work at different speeds and use different methods this allows for this.
this way give value to your customers, for example empty rooms can be clean much faster so less time. we offer plans to ours customers and when it comes to rugs they can have say a clean that includes cleaning but not include treatment to fringes. or with or without stain protection.
this way sets things up so they are talking about what they want for their budget not are you expensive for them. you can fit any type of clean to any budget. and these days people want a deal. its wrong to try and fit them to your price or method.

Dont get much polyprop rugs Ian. They wouldnt pay the take away price, as its far cheaper to buy a new one for just a few quid. If we do them then it would only be in situ , and even then they would have to weigh up whether its worth buying a new one or not.

When asked for pricing on cleaning low value rugs I've often been greeted with the objection of "Oh I could buy a new one for that!".
My thinking is that if you can't get it at what you'd normally charge for doing more expensive rugs, there can still be ways of cleaning it without loss to either you or the customer. If you're there doing carpets and/or upholstery and the rug is just an add-on, they might go for a special "half price" deal, or even leave it off the invoice and sort alternative recompense ;)
You may as well get something rather than nothing, as long as you're not doing yourself down!
A neighbour of a customer I was just about to drive away from called me over to quote for her once. She was one of those real big-spending types, asking me to quote for cleaning half a carpet and...wait for it... a WHOLE armchair! She proudly showed me her Persian rugs. "Oh they don't need cleaning, they clean themselves".
I replied quite flatly "Oh really? Where do they buy their products from?"
I didn't win a customer there :D

If you are at the house cleaning carpets etc and they say
Do you think you could just clean this rug. ( polyproplene) You qoute them the rug price , and stick to your guns.
Or do you run your wand over it.
The situation must occur as many homes have them
