Title: Truvox hydromist compact
Post by: Dean Taberner on September 08, 2008, 05:41:37 pm
Hi guys,

Im adding carpet cleaning to my window cleaning business but im a total novice to it.

Ive just landed one of these from a friend of mine who no longer has a use for it.

www.janitorialdirect.co.uk/product/?pid=176

All I need is the tool/wand to go with it. The cheapest I can find one is around £100. Anyone know where I can get one?

What chemical should I use to go with this machine?

Sorry for sounding thick but thanks in advance for any help.

Dean.

Hi Dean, I don`t think you`ll find many carpet cleaners using one of those.
Best to book on to a course, Prochem or similar, then you will have a much better idea what it`s all about.

Cheers Rabby,

What are these all about though?

Have you ever come across one?

Dean.

Dean

That machine is self contained, has a brush at the front and does not require a wand, unless you want to use it for upholstery cleaning.

It's similar to, but bigger and better than the Rug doctor.
Will get you started but you will probably want to upgrade if you start to get regular work. It's the kind of machine you are likely to come across in Nursing Homes, Hotels, etc, for staff use.

There are various degrees of "good".

This is in the lower degrees as far as professional carpet cleaning machines go.

There are various degrees of "dirty" carpets too.
The lower powered machines will not be able to do a good job on  a really bad carpet.
You will over wet the carpet and use excessive detergent to try to get a decent clean - both could result in a worse situation.

Of course if you get a fairly clean carpet you should be ok (all depending on your expertise).

In my opinion these type of machines are for maintenance cleans - those done frequently before things get too bad.

A carpet cleaner generally gets a call when things are too bad - we would love to get called to clean clean carpets - sometimes happens but not too often.

I wouldnt recommend using any high ph pre-sprays as you wont have the power to rinse them our properly.
What does your local dealer supply?

Seems a good time to use a microsplitter, M-Power or Nemesis Super. All pretty safe for the carpet.
Spray it on, brush it in, leave for 20 minutes, rinse out with machine.
Worth a try rather then the strong stuff like Mark advises against

Hi Joe,

Rinse out with what? Shampoo or just water?

I think the above posts are correct. As im a total novice I think that I really do need to go on a course ASAP.

Thanks mate,

Dean.

Sorry - I should have explained a bit further.
Just rinse out with the water in the machine.
The products I mentioned need spraying on the carpet and agitating (a brush will do, long handled preferably-saves the knees!).
Detergents you buy may be high pH as Mark Powell suggested. These could do with rinsing with a acid rinse to bring the pH down to about 7 again.

Look at the film closely was impressed with the RD with the small amount of pre-spay, bit disappointed with the pro thought trams only had two tracks, he had six :o

Yes a course will invaluable then you learn as you go, what machine (am actually hiring one  :-[ :-[Polaris wish it were Supernova) so the TM will have a rest the ninja wont though!

(The Truvox Hydromist Compact Carpet Cleaner is an extremely popular, easy to use, light and highly effective roller brush carpet cleaner that is used extensively in hospitals, nursing homes, hotels and schools.) remember this is there own staff ;)
