Hey all of you ex-forces window cleaners...... Is WVP as good as Goretex?
I went to an army surplus store to look for some waterproof goretex but they said that WVP was as good and is what the UK forces use. Its alot cheaper than Gore-tex (Navy issue coat and trousers for £115 whereas Goretex jacket in my local Millets shop was £160)
Is it really as waterproof and breathable?

if you want decent waterproofs go to a fishing shop far better maybe pricey

Millets is expensive for the quality they sell.
Better to buy online.

Yeah, I agree. Im not planning on buying from them as too expensive. Will only buy from army surplus or internet.
Anyone know if WVP is as good as gore-tex?? ???

No its definitely not as good as gore-tex. I have had wvp equipment in the past, its another name for trestex which is what Trespass use, not waterproof and doesn't expel moisture as well as goretex.
The gortex is more expensive but definitely worth it.

Thanks Alan
I will go for the Gore-tex on your recommendation. Makes you wonder why the Forces are put into WVP though when Gore-tex is better. ???
