Post by: tompoole on September 05, 2008, 06:51:13 pm
just been to quote an old farm house 5 miles from from anywhere, 12  georgion windows in the  converted barn and 34 house windows 2 of which are patios and two are bay windows. so i quoted £61 monthly or bi monthly. she said  she would think about it as she has onybeen paying £25 per month ??? surely not ???

considering location i would have said monthly 70-80 seems about right.

i mainly work in the countryside and adding a large premium because it is 5 miles from town is a bit much i reckon.
5 miles is only 10 minutes drive. 20 for return journey. At the very most.
In my local town it takes 10 minutes to go a mile.
I know where i'd rather be driving.

what part of country are you in cos location seems to make a LOT of difference on pricing
i could not get that sort of price in my area

i agree with £45 aswell £50 if two of you have to travel to it £61 sounds a bit steep

because im not greedy and i can make a wage at that price, plus its the going rate round ere
exactly
where you live has a lot to do with pricing
and i dont need some numpty (like Davo ::) etc.) saying that you can get these prices wherever you are and all you need to do is believe and sell yourself and whatever because that aint the case
i would charge around £40 thats about top whack in my area

Hang on a minute has anyone even seen a picture of this place,i never price over the phone or on description.A house might only have 2 windows but they could be the most awkward 2 windows you`ll ever come across, something to think about when someone rings and asks you for a price i`ll have to see it is the best they get from me over the phone.

i picked up one like that last month, it took 45 mins ( first clean) ,but the next clean will be 30 mins... i charge £30, but i have £160 of work 5 mins drive away...and it looks like the house down the lane from them want it done...i havnt seen that property yet, but i know that the owner is a head consultant in cardiology ;)

the thing is its nice to charge as much as you can but you also want to keep the work...
if a job is a little out the way i always try to knock on the surrounding houses...

Tom,

No, No, No my friend.  If the lady wants to pay 60 who are you to argue, after all theres plenty of times when it works in reverse when you under quote for example and then get short shrift when you explain this and ask for a little more next time.  Anyway theres no way your price is to high as it stands.
