carpet cleaning slow but we are so busy on commercial projects that we are giving our carpet cleaning jobs away.

Hi ,
I'm quite busy with domestic for this time of year and am currently doing an every Sunday job, which is a bit of a pain but thankfully it's now and not July!
As a reward I've given myself today off.
Febuary is the worst month usually , so for newbies its worth trying to schedule commercial in at this time.
Keep smiling,
Doug
-
doug u must live in the rich part of essex then braintree area must be poor people lol p.s theres a lot of people on line today ::)
-
Gary,
Leigh is nice , but Southend and Westcliff must be two of the poorer parts of Essex.
Cheers,
Doug

Pretty quite here in Chelmsford at the moment, at least it gives me a chance to catch up on paper work and the dreaded DIY.

Hi
Like a morgue for deaf mutes at the moment.
Is that a lone wolf howling in the distance?

P.S. just got in from a targeted mail drop though

Im very quiet with Carpet Cleaning but blinds keep ticking over.
I have done little Marketing in Jan and Feb as I do no find I get a good return on Leaflets or Tele Canvansing for Carpet Cleaning in these months.
I know I am wrong as some people are very busy.
However I have a mass leaflet campain planed from March onwards
-
Busy, booked through to mid March on domestic with a splattering of commercial.
Keep up the marketing at an even pace even when it's busy.
Nicky
-
Very busy
-
Steady more than busy. 90% of business at the minute is repeat and most of it commercial. Going out now to clean a nursery.
Mark
-
Same, reasonably steady, mostly commercial with splattering of domestic.
Had one domestic call at 7am this morning where womans dog had left a small deposit on the landing! She'd walked through it into the bathroom, back into the bedroom, down the stairs and into the living room before she noticed!!
Went straight out and tidied that up first - £120 before 10 o'clock, good start to the day, rest of day spent doing hotel foyer and bar.
Only two small jobs for tomorrow but next week is quite busy.
-
Steady all domestic work
-
Well I did have a call at 11.45pm the other evening asking me to go and clean a Number Two Stain.
I did not go as the possibility of repeat work was not good.
-
It has slowed up here in wales which is really strange as begining of Feb was quite steady but the last 3 days only a few calls.
Paul
-
pretty steady at the mo :D
-
Normally quiet during half term week, as most work is domestic. :(
Used my free time this week to drive at London Fashion Week ;D
Elle magazine has THE loveliest girl fashion team :o
Back to work with a bang as got to do saturday & sunday to catch up with surprise influx of jobs ::)
-
Phone quieter than normal but still heavily booked up.

martin i didnt know u was in my neck of the woods u in thompson? chelmsford is were i got turned over on a job the other week :( avon rd grrrr

Absolutely dead. Keep checking the phone for a dial tone :'(
Have driven passed the homes of my competition on various occasions (on my way to drop Millie off at nursery school, I don't normally stalk people honest ;)) and their vans haven't moved either, so it's not just me.
Out leafleting y'day, observing one absolutely awful driveway (peach coloured and very shiney) and slipped and fell hard on my backside. Hobbled back to van winded, wounded and red faced only to find my 6 year old son laughing his head off.
Not a good week.

Gone from doing nothing to being snowed under.
I Hate January's

Hi Gary, Ditto, didnt know you where in this area either.
You got turned over on a job? What did they do?
Martin

martin
-
hi im in guildford and its dead im lucky to get 2 jobs a week
-
anyone busy now ive gone a week without a job :'(
-
Where are you, or are you prepared to travel worldwide?
We are steady, next week is full(ish), following week has a couple of slots still. Been running my proverbials off this week trying to clear time to get to the show yesterday.
-
I had nowt 2 weeks ago, did £400 last week and £300 this week (did go to the show for 2 days though!). Verdict - it's picking up gradually and January and February were better than expected. Hopefully some good weeks in the summer will make up for some bad ones in winter.

However I have a mass leaflet campain planed from March onwards
A mass leaflet campaign planned for March in the East Anglia area? If you're really lucky Ian, they may hit the same letterboxes at the same time as my mass leaflet campaign due to kick off in East Anglia next week. :(
-
East Anglia's a 'fairly' big place though!! Unless you're into Carpet cleaning world domination. :)
How's it goin' Mark?
Regards.
Martin
-
Ian and Mark
You are more than welcome to leaflet drop in my part of East Anglia as long as you stick to the east of me! ;D ;)
ps Don't come today, the snow has arrived, I've wimped out and postponed todays work to next week. ::)

Ah, you've guessed my masterplan then Martin. ;)
I'm still very much getting things off the ground at the moment. They don't make it very easy for people starting up businesses in this Country do they? Companies House, Inland Revenue, Customs & Excise, accountants, solicitors all wanting a bit of the action. Eventually I may be allowed the odd couple of hours to actually concentrate on carpet cleaning.
I've done a few jobs and have had good feedback so far, but this is the first major leaflet campaign I've embarked on. I must admit I've gone to town on the leaflets (more like double sided full colour posters by the time I finished). I've got 55,000 of them being printed which should be completed by tonight. Distribution is being planned throughout the rest of March so we'll see how it goes. Hopefully there'll be a few manky carpets after all the snow and ice has given way and the timing could be good.
Ian
I reckon in this weather I probably could do a leaflet drop to the east of Gorleston....if I can find my ice skates and a few frozen in passing ships. :)
Weather's not too much better here in Ipswich. Started out cold but dry this morning, so I took my son to school. On the way back it's started coming down in torrents, and we're now pretty much snowed under. Getting him home from school later could prove interesting.
-
Hi Guys,
The snow has hit me too here in Newmarket :P I did have plenty of work booked for today with me being at the show all week a busy friday/saturday was inevitable, but the roads are so bad I'm staying in with a brew and Emma to entertain me instead ;)
We should look into some East Anglia Networking and get together occasionly for a beer.
Paul

Hi Paul. How did you enjoy the show? Hope Nick didn't work you too hard. I had all great intentions of going, but unfortunately there was a lot of marketing stuff and Government red tape which needed sorting by tight deadlines, so couldn't make it.
Snow's now stopped here in sunny Ipswich. Pah, five inches of the stuff and then it gives up. Roads still look treacherous though, and I'm supposed to be driving down to east London to pick up my mum so she can be here for my son's seventh birthday tomorrow. No chance!
Actually, while it may have been a bit light hearted, I don't see why we couldn't organise a kind of East Anglian network if other are interested. It's certainly far more practical to set up than the national network which was mentioned on here a little while ago, and perhaps if the national network plan is still of interest to others, maybe this is the way forward. We could start up regional networks, which if successful, could then come together as a national network, but we have to get the bottom of the pyramid on a firm footing before we embark on the top. I'm all in favour of the East Anglian network, Chairman Paul. Oh, and as chairman, it's your round first. ;D
-
Hi Mark,
I was looking out for you, Its a shame you couldnt get to Birmingham, The show was a real success and a great oppertunity to get to chat with chaps from the forums, they never look the way you expect them too, far worse ;D
The snow has also stopped here but as in your neck of the woods the roads are looking nasty so I've re-booked todays 3 jobs for next week.
Regarding networking, it would be great if we could, but I'm not sure if it would be an easy thing to get of the ground, most companies with multiple branches probably cover the entire country so networking in an area such as the east may be tricky. Saying that If ever asked if I can clean out of my prefered area then more than happy to pass work to a CC such as yourself. We should arrange a CC get together somewhere in central EA a little later in the year and talk shop.

hi folks still no work in guildford not even had a call in over a week :'( im glad im off for a 3 day course next week.
-
Mark, Paul
Im happy with this talk of East Anglian domination as long as you stick to A45 ;D ;D
A12
Mark how are you planning to distribute your 55 thousand.
Did you get A3 the Copy Printer I have the use off only does A4
Let us know when the East Anglian Chapter is due to meet.
Regards
Ian :D :D
-
Ian, that is my initial plan. I'm starting off in Ipswich and gradually moving down the A12 into Doug Holloway territory. ;D Later on though I may begin to look northwards.
The poster thing was a bit of an exageration. Originally I intended to do A5 leaflets. This then expanded to A4 single side, and eventually ended up as A4 double side full colour. I chose a local company which prints and distributes leaflets. They are currently printing them (should be done by tonight if they were able to get into work today) and the distribution should begin some time next week. They are distributing 50,000 of them and I will do about 5,000 myself in areas which they are not targeting.
Long live the East Anglian Chapter. ;)
