hi guys,
2 of us just done 17hrs on school 1st clean. insides n out (wfp...i kno i kno...lol). hard graft. had to work around tradesman, around stuff piled up, cleaned in dark in some rooms, nightmare as they are handing over tomorrow. thinking of charging £600 as its really 2 days and i can earn £330 on my own commercial. what you think, am i being greedy?
-
No at all,
I have a job coming up for 116 student flats first clean (wfp) outs only approx 300 windows over 5 floors and some outbuildings, windows will take 2 days 3 men wfp 16 hours £1600 and I was the cheapest.
I work my pricing by the hour.
-
2 @ 17 hours = 34 man hours =Absolute Min £680 + vat
-
2 @ £30 per hour per man = £1020
-
You need to be charging into at least a thousand...at the VERY least. thats the equivalent of 4 days work for 2 men. at £30 an hour that is £1020....and whatever you want on top, I would say £1500 or something, more if you think you can get it.
-
Like Luke said, at least £1500.
-
no your not gready id be looking for £35 to 40 per man il let you get the adder out £1190 TO £1360 ,IV DUN IT FOR YOU
-
I would be looking at £25 per hour per man - thats assuming the other guy is working for you on a wage.
works out at £850 plus VAT = 998.75

Normally, apart from one job I can think of, I always give a price BEFORE we start work, and if we get it wrong; then tough on us.
But if you can charge what you want after you've done the job, why not go for £2089?
That sounds better than all the previous suggestions.

sounds very strange to me. How on earth did you get a job before first quoting your price ??

my thoughts exactly ???

Where does the magic £30 an hour come from? Where's the overheads on this job like travelling, setting up etc? I would imagine the person who has to pay the bill will have a coronary!

True that, surely the company will want to see costs broken down ie materials, labour etc, surely you cant just send in the quote as "17 x £30 Thankyou".....they must think your taking the p for window cleaning, not that im saying we shouldnt work at that or charge it, but you must have to come up with a way of costing the job for overheads etc, i was thinking recently whether anyone has made a spreadsheet that shows how much you personally need to charge to cover overheads per hour, and make profit at x amount, anyone got one??

It might have been a long day but £330.00 is good money for a days work, whoever said £1500 needs to ask their mummy to read them another story before bed. The problem on CIU is the vast difference in what some cleaners are telling us they are earning, i've stoped reading most of it .If you are happy with £600 go with it.

i woud still like to know how he got job without quoting first ???
-
well said Pure
it doesnt matter about what anyone says they would charge.....you have the job
i think if you like £330 a day thats what you ask for
the difference is yes you could get away with £1500 but only the once where as if you charge your good but reasonable £330 a day rate you may get the next job and the next etc
It is about building a business brick by brick or pane by pane or if you are a sole trader laying the foundations that will allow you to work for as long as you want
I did a first clean at a school re-furb for the builder and charged £350 for the day, he was stuck so said ok.
I got paid alright but on his copy invoice it had scrawled across it" three men one day" to justify to head office the cost.I have never been asked to work for them again. Live and Learn

i've re thought after some replies and think this is more reasonable...£30 p.h per van +diesel. knock off employees earnings...still making good money but is sustainable for the future. lj.thorpe....never you mind...lol...i just did.
