Title: Slow C.I.U.
Post by: Ken Wainwright on February 16, 2005, 04:27:17 pm
I've posted in the past about the slow speed of Clean It Up. After suggestions given by others, such as deleting files and cookies, these measures were only a slight improvement, but back to mega slow within a few hours. I'm not on broadband but I do not have any problems like this on another forum, CleanTalk, NCCA and other forums I visit.  Others have posted similarly on another forum about similar problems they have encountered on CIU, sometimes not being able to log on at all.

Today I decided to time the response to input on this site.
The login page came up instantly, but I presume that's because it's saved in my computer as a cookie? To login took: 1 min:20secs.
To bring up the Carpet Cleaning Issues page took 56 secs.
The individual topic pages took:  45secs, 15secs, 35secs, 12 secs, 3 secs, 11 secs, 2 secs, 20 secs, 40 secs. As you can see, times vary but the ultimate service received from Clean It Up isn't upto the standard of the competition. As I've mentioned before, this problem began with the change from Yabb to the current software.

As I'm not the only one encountering this poor performance, could we have some feedback from the Administrators please.

Safe and happy computing :)
Ken

Hi Ken

I'm on broadband and experience the same.

Probably like a lot of other users I get fed up waiting and give up.

Needs sorting I agree

It is slower than the other boards for me, and sometimes it is very slow - 10 seconds.

I have business broadband (fewer people trying to use the wires at the same time).

Cheers

PS.  Sometimes I find the NCCA site very slow!

Ken,

I agree Cleanitup is generally slower than the other two but easily the most popular , is this linked ?

Could it be due to the volume of archived posts?

I will ask Mike Boxall,

Cheers,

Doug

on BTbroadband and sometimes loads up quick, other times it is slow,
think it a problem at C.I.U, as i do not have problems with any other sites.

To be honest it was so slpw today I wondered why I had voluntered to be a moderator.

I do try to read most posts as I enoy reasing them, and its part pf the task of moderating.

Thank goodness you all treat the boards with respect.

Ive only deleted two threads and then only when they got ridiclous or personal.
