Morning all,
My transfer pump is left in my holding tank. (has been in there for about a year) This morning the float valve cut the supply off and as I needed another 25 litres I strapped the float valve up.
Pump now just hummed. Have shaken the float value to ensure the ball in it is makeing a connection, but still no water.
Is the pump finnished? anyone else had the same?
Thanks
Tony

have you got a tap on end of transfer hose ? and forgotten to open after

hi Daz
No, no tap!
-
some of the pumps need about 2 or 3 inches of water depth to work otherwise they just suck air.

My pump stoped working a while ago these float valvues are crap!!!
i thought it had gone so i cut it off joined the wires make sure its water proof mind. sorted no problems at all..

Thanks Dave
how did you waterproof it?

but just reading back you say it hums? there must be power to the pump then.
mine was completly dead, i solded a tube of copper together and put wire inside the tube filled it with silicone to the top. then taped over the copper wiv black electrical tape never had any problmems lol.

i know
mine has done this
it got plenty of water but just humms
if you take the bottom off and youll see the fan that pulls the water through, turn it with your hand, it needs freeing up ;)
