I am intending to start a domestic cleaning business and
am having difficulty in establishing both 'terms and conditions' for my prospective clients and 'terms of employment' for prospectives employees; I expect that employees will be self-employed.
Can anyone offer examples or advice - plain english preferred. :)

RBs has an company called mentor services and they help with all employment and H&E issues, costs vary according to your comany, size, employees etc but really is a good service.
Address is www.rbsmentor.co.uk.
Frees you up to run your company without getting dragged down with all business related politics, nad they will back you up with their advice if you are in the courts.

You posted on the cc section think the info you need would come from the general cleaning side you could also do a search that may help.

Hi
I am a contract cleaner as well as a carpet cleaner. We do both commercial and domestic cleaning.
Employees, good advise can be got from www.acas.org.uk, employee, don't use self employed as you have more control.
Customers, you won't get any work if you ask a domestic customer to sign a contract, therefore terms & conditions are a waste of time.
Work by rule - Contracts (commercial or domestic) are won on price lost on quality.
If you want any further info, pm me.
Good luck

Be careful of the term 'self employed' the Revenue are getting nasty about fake s/e people. A chappie near here had half a dozen men working for him, not cc, and after 18 months the revenue came along said that as they had only done work for him and not a larger customer base they were treating the men as employees and can we have the back tax and NI contributions please?
