Got a call today at 6:30(pm) can I come and look at a lounge and dining room - OK I said hows tomorrow lunch sound - No could you come and look now, only 10 awayso went round.
Cream plain polyprop - smokers and young kids, quite dirty (all I seem to get lately are cream carpets ??? ) Anyway I quoted her and told her I could do it Friday - Can't you do it now? :o - she said she had in laws arriving at short notice (probably the mother in law the way she looked panicky ;D ) So being a hard working soul I agreed.
Had finished about half the job, switched machine off, refilled, moved all the furniture to the other end of the room - switched the machine back on - NOTHING HAPPENED.......hmmmm perhaps the plugs loose.....NO...........went to kitchen, tried the kettle, NOTHING, the woman and kids had all migrated upstairs and there was no hubby to be seen, so I had a discreet fusebox search, kitchen, downstairs toilet, under stairs.........NO - OH POO!!! getting dark outside now, 'Excuse me, I think the fuse has tripped do you know where the fusebox is dear?.......silence........Hello!!!!................silence, go upstairs, nobody here!!! Frantic search now for fusebox, spent 20 minutes....no bloody fusebox anywhere!!!........considered my options......damp rag with microsplitter to finish the other half?? No better not, might get away with it if I only had a truckmount,(truckmount dig ;D) but I have the mighty Powerflite (not great without electricity though) .......went outside Garage!!!!! ......Door locked - to cut a long story short, waited around for another 40 mins before the lady of the house returned, been to a neighbours house.....fusebox in garage.....it was just a tripped fuse.....continued without heat!!!, didn't want it going off again and wanted to get home, job finished, custy very appologetic......but what could I do I can't really charge her any extra can I!! gave me a £5 tip on top anyway, bought a kebab on the way home, sitting here now, going to bed now.
First time Ive had a fuse go - New build house too.

They trip very easily on new builds which can be a real pain especially if you need heat.

2k more any you could have had a power free Prowler ;D
-
Hahaha what a nightmare Paul! ;D
Glad it happened to you and not me :) :)
Just kidding, I think all of us can recall similar horror stories from one time or another, they make great storytelling once the pain has eased!
Talking of sleep, I seem to only have managed an average of 4 hours a night this week, I'll be sleeping on the sofa I'm quoting for in the morning :-\

Can imagine the problem paul.
What a killer a simple job turning into a long job that was not your fault.
As jim said we all have horor stories to tell lol hope you enjoyed your kebab mate.
Some of these houses do have trip switches that when they turn the cooker on it trips.
Prowler time maybe mate ???

Paul
Hope it feels like a distant memory now.
Been there and still occasionally doing it.
Still trying to remember to ask people when I arrive where the fuse box is.
Usual life law: if you know where it is, you won't need to use it. :)
