Title: Just seen window cleaning pro
Post by: jaykie on August 27, 2008, 03:30:04 pm
Ive just met Ian and say his window cleaning programme, and i can say its awesome, I was a bit adament of not using anything other then george but my opinion has total changed, i still think george is a good programme but what Ian has done is 2nd to none, he has sorted every single thing needed for a window cleaner and you can see he has listened to what is needed, this will be the programme for someone who works by themself right through to a company with many employes. Great work Ian.

Intersting,

I will defently be trying the trial version and if ian can come up w ith something to at least get all of the customers over from george i will moving to it, i like the way it handles more jobs on the same account for one customer, not needing to enter muitple jobs.

Am sure theres lots more features carn't wait to see it myself.

Chris,

Thanks very much...I'm glad you enjoyed the Demo.

Dave,

I am currently in the process of writing a utility that will be able to port any data that George can export, so far this is customers, debts and expenses. I will let you know later how I get on with this.

Cheers

Ian

This has been asked a number of times but the price has never been given maybe because it wont be that cheap..hope i'm wrong..
Title: Re: Just seen window cleaning pro

I do no the prices hes thinking of and the reason hes not put it up yet is because he wants to be 100% sure its the right deal for everyone envolved, meaning us and him, Ian has spent 8 months building this and its time well spent when you see what hes pu into it.

Chris
Title: Re: Just seen window cleaning pro
Post by: ianhannaford on August 27, 2008, 07:59:10 pm
Since there are still some commercials that we must sort out I don't want to say a price and this not be correct.

Chris is correct that I want to get the deal correct and it's not an easy decision. I don't want to price people out of the market but equally don't want it so cheap that I cannot dedicate anytime to keeping it up to date.

As for selling it with a PDA, I did think about this but it means holding stock and comes with an administrative overhead.

I thank you all for your patience and apologise for delaying the launch.

Thanks

Ian

Ive got george at the mo and wcp has so much more.

It does invoices with a automatic counter so if custy rings and they have invoice number they give you it,you type this in a wcp will bring it up.

the invoices have your logo at the top if you have a copy

you can select payment type.

if you vat reg you just hit add vat and it will work it out for you.

it has the drag and drop option so if you need to put someone at the end for certain reasons you can.

it shows you what your going to earn on the day, you can go to any day and see what you earnt, you can add fascias and soffit cleans etc to it.

you can have numerous jobs for 1 custy and decide if you want to do seperate invoices or joint invoice.

if you have people working for you they all have a pda with seperate jobs on, once days finished and back at office they can wirelessly sync with pc.

if a custy requests something while your at a job for next visit just put into palm notes and it will transfer it for next time, i.e keys under matt, dont do back as work being carried out etc.

It also has a calander so you can look at the whole month in advance and it will tell you where you are etc so good if new custy rings you can give instant date.

These are just a few i can remember as there was so much.

will it print out selected fields?

this is one thing that bugs me on george is that every persons details needs to be printed on the run sheet.

I.E just print the address, price and notes. or name and address with no price. etc etc.

if you give an employee a PDA does he have access to everyones details or can you limit what they see?

Hi Steve,

In this release, all details will be printed on the worksheets and PDA, however there is the ability to decide whether you want to show the price on the worksheets or PDA.

One of the items on my 'Still to do' list is to enable you to choose what details are displayed as you suggested.

Thanks

Steve,

I also forgot to mention a workaround for this. You can save the worksheet in an editable format (RTF Document) so that you can manually edit before printing so you could remove details that you do not want on the sheet. This will only work for printed worksheets and is quite a manual process so not ideal in the long run.

yer that would be a good option to implement sometime. basicly keeping seprate notes to the worksheet for notes employees need but more personal details kept off.

This is the only thing that bugs me with george, i can't use it to its full potential as i only log address and price within george and have to keep the full details seperate on an excel spreadsheet. This to me would be a huge advantage over george if i could select what to print out. I wouldn't switch to WC pro unless it done it as i would have no need to.

Get it on there before the release ;)

Steve,

Yes it would and I intend to implement a template for different users so that you can still print out some details for one employee and a different set of details for another. The suggestion above was only a 'workaround' for now as this feature wont be included in the release.

I have to launch sometime and have had to cut out certain features to meet a sensible launch date.

can you please put me on your notification list i  like the sound of the extra things it has on george and would like to trial it.
as a note will you be making it possible to email invoices straight from the program?

at the moment i have to print from george then scan then attach to an email to send to commercial clients.

if i could just hit email it would save a lot of time and aggro and would be a valuable addition for most of the guys on the forum i'd think.

I believe that once he has sorted the commercial part out his website will go live and you got the 45 day free trial through that.

Jeff,

Emailing from the program is slightly harder than it sounds but is on the list of things to do. In the meantime you can save the invoice as a pdf document and then email that to your customers. /this will save you having to print and scan.

Thanks

Indeed WCP does have internet backup feature.

In the very near future it will also have the ability to automate back ups as well.

I have successfully mananged to import a users details from George into WCP which is good news. However, there are some issues:

1) You will have to manually 'merge' customers as I have no way of knowing which addresses belong to 1 single customer and also no idea which tasks belong to which customers. This will only affect invoicing. It will not affect the scheduling.

2) There is no job history as this is not avialble from George. This obviously means there are no accounts. I have had to add a negative payment onto users accounts so that the debts are correct and a future date for the next due date.

3) Since you can't get rounds from George, I have had to make up Round names (Round 1, Round 2 etc... which I have grouped based on the date the the job is due. Once the data is in WCP you can organise as you wish.

I know this is not ideal but since this is the only data available from George this is the best I can acheive.

I have only tested with one users data that was sent to me, would anyone else be willing to export Customers, Debts and Expenses from George so that I can test my import utility further? Drop me an email ian@windowcleanerpro.com.

Thanks

Ian

Did we get a cost on this program  ;D

Given that when importing data from George some items will remain as seperate entities i.e gutter clean as a one off and entered into George as a single item...can you manually ammend an address but with a date say in 2006?

Ian, I have another question ( please dont be offended by this one!!! ). When many companies even the big ones bring out patches for current software it can cause bugs and problems and need an entire new version from scratch altogether eventually, do you think this will be the case or will the patches ( "updates" ) not cause these problems? thanks, Luke

Hi Luke,

I understand where your coming from which is why I have created the auto updating feature and system error reports. If there is an error in WCP then a window will pop up and it enables you to send me the error details so that I can reproduce and fix. The auto updating feature means that I can get updates to users very quickly. You should not have to wait too long if any issue do arise.

Hope this answers your question.

Luke,

My version of a handheld works on Windows Mobile PDA rather than a Palm. You will see why when you see the screen shots!!

The most important thing is to get the website up and running so that you can see some of the features but most importantly download the software. I don't think I will get the online ordering system up and running tomorrow but will be able to accept orders over the phone or via email if needed.

The PDA version will work in Windows Mobile 5.0 and higher...I dont know much about BlackBerry's so dont know what operating systems they run on. A Java version of the PDA will be available if the demand is high.

Simon,

I don't really want to get invloved with selling the PDA hardware as well. It will take valuable time away from the development of the software to handle all the problems like delivery and returns etc...I can recommend PDAs to purchase if people are worried about purchasing the wrong one. To install the PDA software its a simple matter of clicking a button in the main application.

i have just had a tinker with george, it looks quite good, but thought i would look at wcp too. I have been using my own that I built while studying software development a few years ago, it works and got me a distinction, but its very basic and I am lazy ;D
My  number is 07892 764 854 , would be nice if we could meet up and discuss ideas mate  ;D

Hi Everyone,

Thanks very much for your patience. I have just put the site live.

www.windowcleanerpro.com

There are still some sections under construction but at least you can download the software and use it for free for 45 days.

I have included a Live Help button at the top of the page and my support mobile number (This will not be on all the time but you are free to try anytime in the chance that I have it switched on!)

If anyone has any problems, I can be contact via phone, live help, email, forum etc...I also have the ability to remotely logon to your PC and help you through the installation. I aim to put some video tutorials online so that you can sit back and watch how to use Window Cleaner Pro.

There are a few users already on here that have been helping me test so they may know the anwer to your questions.

Thanks again and please enjoy...it has taken me a long time to get it to this stage and I welcome your feedback

Thanks

Ian
