I wear Dr Martens which I thoroughly recommend to anyone who suffers from arthritis. It's like walking on a cushion of air. The soles are are oil resistant and steel toe caped in boot version and normal in shoe version. Been wearing them about 24 months now and have dramatically reduced my arthritic flare ups in my feet and knees. I swear by them now.

To keep them dry I rub some waterproofing oil into the leather once a week in winter which keeps the leather soft and dry. It works for me. Tried the waterproof sprays but they don't last long and aren't really up to the job, but the rub in oil & gels are, similar to dubbing but better.
