I was just looking at the fan-jets available on the cleantech web-site, theres 2 types; normal and fine, I assume this refers to the type of spray these nozzles produce. But, there seems to be some sort of contradiction as the 'Normal' nozzle are also called 'fine' and the 'Normal' are called 'high'. Shouldnt this be the other way round, as a higher pressure is going to create a finer mist and lower pressure a larger droplet size and less fine mist.
It all seems back to front so now dont know which one to buy.

I want the least fine mist...so which one do I go for?
Matt

i use both
the fine is for a lower flow rate
normal for a higher flow rate
both VERY good

But which ones produce the least fine mist, i.e. the mist that is least likely to be blown by the wind? or are they both the same its just how much water you want to get through?

i would say both the same, just depends on how much water you use

Cheers Matt :)

There hit n miss as they make them themselves now.

Are you saying Cleantech have a tendency to cut a corner or two ;D

Can't find them on site, but if they are the ones I'm thinking of( plastic, light blue), then they aint much good, water comes out as a fine mist and the slightest bit of wind and it blows everywhere :(

I have a set of those and as John says they produce a fine mist (I reckon theyre generally okay for rinsing on). Ive been speaking to Monseigneur Gardineer about this recently, hes got onto the manufacturers of those jets and is having a set that produce a less fine mist sent out. Ill let you know how they go.

I wonder if it's as simple of drilling the hole out to get a better spray?
I've got a pair in the garage that cost me £5 each and never used them except on my house.

they are blue ones , put fan jet into search box and they will come up. i only use pencil jets on windows -found gardiners to be best. i use fans on conserv roofs , was thinking of trying the wintecs for this . at the moment i use cleantecs , the 2 types they sell are low pressure - for use with bp . and high pressure-
60psi or more pumps. if used with a 100psi the lower pressure ones create a fine mist, the higher pressure ones are not so fine

Ah got it , yes they are the ones.
Might be ok for con roofs but not really windows as it's too fine a spray/mist.
I don't know how this high/low pressure relates to which fan jet(cleantech type) ???
Having a 60psi or 100psi pump is irrelevant to the water coming from the jets as the psi relates to the pressure switch cut off point only.
-
the blue fan jets that gardiners sell are too fine a mist IMO also Varitech sell ones that look the same but have a different serial number and they have a less fine mist and are more pencil like and much better.
-
i also bought a yellow cleantech brush with fans and those fans were well dodgy , very fine and non uniform

The ones I got were from Varitech (FJ1)...and they are way too fine for my liking, nothing like pencil IMO ???

i have a bag of normal and fine from cleantech, they are about 3 years old, but as they are ali, they will still be fine
good job i stocked up

the high pressure one are for 60 -100psi pumps.
the low pressure ones were bought out because the high pressure ones do not work well with back pack, as it is only 40 psi.hope this is more clearer

The fans that Gardiners sell are Lurmrk 04E40 and the ones that varitech do are 04F40's these are less fine than the gardiner ones and fan less (i.e. more pencil like)

Do varitech have a website?
More specifically a page for these fans?
-
If they fan to fine then re drill the hole only slightly, practice on a fan you don`t like. The bigger the hole the more water can pass through meaning less of a fine spray.
-
NWH did you convert a tucker brush like luke did?

Daz, yes I know what you are saying....but, the psi rating is only the pressure switch activation point, ie the pressure at which the switch will trigger and stop the pump, it has nothing to do with the flow rate of the pump, the amount of flow from the pump is measured in litres per min. It does not matter if you have a 60psi of 100psi rated pressure switch on the pump, the flow will still be the rated lit/per min.
Hope this helps.

no as far as I know they do not have a website
-

Yes i have converted 3,2 x12" and 1 x9".
-
Do you just use the Tucker nozzles, the pencil jets that come with it?
Or is that not possible?
-
You need bolt jets really otherwise it looks rubbish, get them from Aquafactors or ionic there about £3 each.

We got 2 threads running regarding this ;D
I spoke to Steve at Aquafactors yesterday he reckons you need that whole fitting kit for the nozzles (the kit that holds the brush onto the tucker pole I think)
Can you take a pic of your conversion?
The jets/nozzles really

That`s rubbish he`s trying to flog you something you don`t need Matt, read the other thread.

I have mate, ta. I dont want to have anything to do with them anyway, spoke to him out of curiosity as he had phoned me chasing me to see if I was interested in their quote they gave me of £380 to wire in a battery for me, no materials, just labour £380.00 ;D
Trouble is they dont do fan jets, I dont want pencils, might have to see if omnipole do fans.
-
Cut a line across the bolt jet with a hacksaw and do your own.
-
If it goes wrong just drill them right through again.

I cant drill 2 parallel holes in a brush-head, what hope is there for me trying a spot of precision engineering ;D
