Here is my reply.

Hi Lou,

Thanks for contacting me regarding my services, however I suggest, as you are " going through a few companies trying to find a good deal " you will not require my services as I only offer the best service available and I believe not what you are seeking.
good look with your search, but beware as what you belive may be a good deal is not always the case.
geoff.
PS. I suggest you take a look at my website were you can learn some of the pitfals.

Good answer...here is one I had last week...

Question:

Hi
Could you give me estimate to have a living room and hall cleaned in an apartment @northumberland park and also a three bed house, living room, hall, stairs, landing and 3 beds all of average size.
We are moving out of the apartment into the house in west denton and need both cleaned hopefully same day and looking for the best price.
Thanks
Vicky Wightman

Answer:

Hi there

Thank you for getting in touch. As there seems to be a lot of carpet to be cleaned it would always be best to come out and quote rather than estimate.

If you are looking for the 'best price' then our firm will not compete on price. I find our customers are more quality driven than price driven. There are a multitude of 'splash and dash' merchants out there who will do a mediocre clean for a low sum of money. You simply get what you pay for in this industry.

A quote is free so you have nothing to loose but as I said we do not and will not compete on price.

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch and let me know if we can be of assistance. I will be available on Saturday if you would like to book a quote. Please call to arrange an appointment.

Kind regards

John Raffell (Aquakleen).

I get these also, the problem with the web is that you can get a carpet cleaning website/price list from all over the country with web specials featuring £20 a room etc and then customers start to compare, a bit like the 50% off in your area, it's just a matter of casting the net and see what comes back.

Hi Guys

Everyome will get these sort of problems with the web, If someone is shopping around I go for a high price, partly to be awkward ;) but also to distance myself from sundry cheap quotes .

This sometimes leads to jobs and if not plenty more come along.

Cheers

Doug

Not mail, but here is a phone call I got last week: Can you come and clean my three piece suite and two mats.
Did the job this morning and when I had finished the lady said " now how much do I owe you''. Customers who trust you are worth their weight in gold and price shoppers are just time wasters.

That can be a problem. Cleaned a suite years ago forgetting customer hadn't asked a price. When I told her how much she tried to throw me out the house. Didn't let it happen twice.

As far as web price shoppers go, remember they are sitting in front of the pc with a list of cc's in front of them.

Hi Guys

In some ways it is no different to the YP but in others it is , for one you can really sell through your site, pictures, testimonials etc.

Secondly and this links to another question posted, you can create a web presence which gives the impressiuon of being the most important player in the game by haviong several sites.

Cheers

I would at least correct the spelling mistakes though.

Clinton, yes maybe she had an idea, I remember now I cleaned a suite for her daughter in law a few weeks ago. However it is still a question of the customer having trust in us.
As a matter of interest I just went through my diary now an I see another five jobs booked where no price has been discussed yet, Am I doing something right or something wrong?
