maybe 5 out of a hundred, really depends on the houses the customers etc some people just do not like it or like change but most are fine with it
-
could be a tough one, new window cleaner new system...
just my thoughts on it
-
I reckon you could loose a lot more. They are not your long standing customers that know you. You'll sundenly come around soak their windows and possibly leave a small proportion of them spotty. I've heard of people looseing a third. I'm not saying it will happen but you need to be prepared.

The areas the work is in is in most of my roads so custys have seen me around plus when i canvassed i spoke to each one at the door without a bad word just that when i canvassed the bloke selling now had them all.

I would expect to lose 30% of it,in a couple more years time cleaning with the pole will be as accepted as the blade so it would be different then but if you right off say 30% you won`t be far wrong. So out of 4k if it was good work i would have it in my head to offer £2800 and then a bit more to be sure i wouldn`t lose out at all if i lost up to 40%,if you get it for the right price you can go straight in with the pole without the worry of losing some, don`t make the mistake of thinking you won`t lose any or hardly any people don`t like change and won`t be willing to even give it a go.

I reckon I lost about 3% but they were my own longstanding (in some cases) customers. A few others put me under pressure over it but saw the results in time (took me 2 - 3 cleans to start getting my act together.

Just spoke to the bloke and hes going to break it down into rounds for me as he has loads of custys in roads i already do so not going to take on roads where i have no work, also got him to let me have the work i want at 2x to allow for custys i will lose, were going to go around each custy together and hes going to explain that hes moving away and that i come highly recomended by him, a lot of the work hes got he bought 3 years ago by a bloke who did wfp himself so switch should be ok on them.

I have to disagree with you there on some of the things you are saying, I took over a round about 3 months ago I lost 1 customer out of 50 and they was trad cleaned before hand, 30% loss it would be down to poor customer relations IMO
sry make that 2 as one moved
-
ian, you cleaned their windows that bad that they moved house??!?!?!?!
-
Pmsl we can always count on you LWC.

i have bought a few rounds and converted them. i don't know what ratio i lost customers but it was very minimal. in fact i think in the first month we picked up more on the way round than what we lost overall. on the few rounds i bought.
I think the key to it is a decent explanation of what is going on, system etc etc...
-
as long as the guy introduces you i don,t think you should lose more than 5or 10 % , but you will get sick of explaining the system to all those new custies , i,ve done stacks of first cleans lately and its an absolute joy to get back to work thats already up to scratch , good luck chris you,ll soon be earning serious dosh regards alan

Cheers guys, its between £189 and £232 a road, no moving roads, i think it will work in my advantage as my van is sign written so ill be noticed by neighbours who may also need a cleaner, also on the round there is a limited area of 12 x 3 floor mansions that unless you buy the round you got no hope of getting them as there more like weekend homes for the rich and he has 9 of them and these where do WFP before he bought it 3 years ago.

I was talking about price negotiation,i wouldn`t expect to lose that many either, but worse case scenerio and all that. It`s a good way to get the work cheaper in my experience.

Just out of interest, whats the guy who's selling the round up to? Is he starting again in Cornwall or going to another job?
I always think that its a real downfall in our business as when your work is good you are never going to leave it and that prevents you from moving elsewhere
-
Hes bought another full round in cornwall from some bloke who moving abroad.

At 2x value for a round which earns 4k per month trad, I'd snatch his hands off mate! :o

Between me and another local lad we got 5k to spend, he leaving in 2 weeks and needs to get rid soon, if i had 8k id buy it all as really good work, but you never know i might beable to do a deal on all of it and have hive work till he leaves then i can get him to use some squeegee off on the rest of the round.

I changed my custy's over to wfp and lost a handful (old flaky georgian windows = 3 and oldfartitis = 2) out of 200.
But I reckon you need an explanation leaflet for those "wot don't understand".
Losses? About 10% if you're "Ooop North in Luddite land" and about 5% "dahn Sarf" where they no longer use steam engines... ;D
-
Chris, if you get a 200 metre hose reel and hose you will only have to set up once a day :D
