Title: Hydramaster Raptor
Post by: Darren O on August 13, 2008, 09:23:25 pm
Ive had the raptor for just over a year now its been a great machine untill the last couple of months.I cant get the preasure to go above 120psi ive tried a couple of things that hydramaster told me but nothing works. One thing ive noticed is when i use my prochem glidemaster 4inch handtool the preasure always starts to go back up within a couple of minutes its when iam using the wand the preasure is crap. Also heard a place in Scotland that sell the Chemspec version are having the exact same problems has anyone any ideas before i send it back to Hydramaster.cheers Darren

Darren,
It sounds like water starvation to me, have you cleaned the filter at the bottom of the fresh water tank?
If this block up its not that noticeable when using a hand tool with a single jet, Pressure drop becomes more notticeable when you attatch a twin jetted floor wand!
Failing that check the hose from the bottom of the tank to the water pump make sure this is not callapsing with the heat of the water!
Its deffernetly a blockage you have somewhere in the water system before the water pump!

Sorry to hear you still having problems with this. Been bugging you for a few weeks.
Hope what Dave suggests solves your problem. Must be very frustrating.

Darren

Do you live in a hard water area, as calcium can build up very quickly and reduce the flow dramatically, just a thought.

Try checking the filters at the end of the wand just behind the jets, this will cause pressure loss when it becomes clogged up.

Ive tried all of the above cleaned jets in the wand i live in a soft water area the filter at the bottom of the fresh water i cleaned that a couple of weeks ago but not sure if i done it right i just put my hand in and got a lot of gunge of the bottom of it but i dont no if you have to take it apart. Dave i think your right when the machine is full it seems to be working better when it gets half full the pump starts to make noises if there is not enough water.Iam going to take it to my local prochem dealer they fixed the heater on it the last time and see if they no whats wrong with it.Next year iam getting a boxxer318 hydramaster said it will fit in my nissan primaster swb totally getting fed up with portables.

you need to take of the filter, and clean it , its no good just take some gunge around the bottom, the particles caught in the filter can solidify, causing a complete blockage.

I took the filter of today and cleaned it there wasnt anything in it anyway i tried my prochem wand this morning with it to see if it would make any difference as it has bigger jets.I let it run for few minutes but it wouldnt go above 100psi i then tried my hydramaster wand and it jumped up tp 250psi i still havent got a clue whats wrong with it.Also when i change it back to my prochem wand it only goes to 150psi.

Darren,
From what your saying is your Prochem wand has a higher flow rate, that means your water pump can't keep up with the flow!
Which tells me you have a blockage in the supply pipe to the water pump.

Now too the 318 I think its an ideal machine to upgrade to, its got the 36 blower which is  inbetween Prochems Blazer and Hydramasters Boxxer 421. Compact enough for your size of van and has the muscle to clean  commercial carpets.

I got my machine back last week from Hydramaster and it has been working great untill last night when i was doing a nursery switched it on and it was back down to 100psi again.I turned the preheat on and off a couple of times as that sometimes got the preasure up the last time.I got it back up to 250psi but ive got a feeling the exact same thing is going to happen again and its costing me £70 carrige  to send it back also they never told me what was wrong with it the last time.

Bit of a bugger having just gone outside its warranty :( :(

I'd try to find someone local who knows about pumps etc, sod spending the carriage to Cornwall from Glasgow!

I'd definitely hassle them to tell me what was up with it last time, although if it isn't fixed they might not be right.

HM make excellent TMs, but this is exactly why I wouldn't buy a TM from Ashbys.. because they make excellent portables.

Jim when i sent it back last week it was still under warranty the warranty ran out on the 28th aug, they cant expect to send it back and it works for 3or4 days and then the same thing happens again.Another thing is they didnt even tell me if my warranty was going to cover it in the first place.

Spoke to Craig at hydramaster he said the pump head was damaged so they replaced it also they used a repair kit on the preasure regulator. Also told them when i turn pump on the gauge jumps from 300 to 100 and does this for about 20 seconds they think that there must be air comming in from somewere so looks like i will be sending it back again.Fair play to them they are going to credit my acount with £100 and throw in in some chems.
