Title: Dodgey Leaflets...what do you think guys??
Post by: C-Thru. on August 12, 2008, 05:15:13 pm
Hi Guys, got a leaflet thru the door the other day for WFP window cleaning and couldnt believe what it said about trad window cleaners and the risk of being sued by them in the event they had a fall on private property.

this is how it was worded;

Did you know…….
Ladders are no longer permitted to be used by window cleaners.
If your window cleaner should have a fall whilst on your property YOU could be liable and open to be sued!
Do you want to lose your house??

Can they say things like that? surely they are liable for false information?
What do you think guys....................

hahaha what a load of rubbish, they can say it but its not strictly true, ladders are not banned, however house holders have been sued by window cleaners who have fell, read an article about it on here somewhere recently, not sure where exactly now though.

Someone posted a funny leaflet on one of my rounds, saying "downstairs window cleaner" these were all big houses haha, he wanted people to just have downstairs done!!

Ladders can be used under the "working at height regulations 2005" granted wfp is an alternative that is feasible and therefore should be first priority but when it cant do the job, ladders are acceptable if precautions are taken ie someone to foot the ladder, ladder stopper etc, otherwise how do you get on flat roofs etc

Legal aspects aside, does any of you think this would shock customers into ditching their trad WC for him and his WFP system?
is he onto a winner? is this good marketing? shock tactics?

They are effectively telling their customers that they WILL sue them if they have an accident. Would this include tripping over their own hose etc. can't see to many customers taking them on.

I have quite a few customers who believe that ladders are banned. They must have read it somewhere or misheard on the radio. I always tell them the truth, that it hasn't for houses,  if they mention it to me.  I am WFP myself. Never had one of them sack me, so no problem.

have you a number for this clown ?
And is it an 0800 number ? if so i think i might know who it is
The Joker was going to dress up as father Christmas and hand out flyer's in our local town to try and drum up some business

The sad part of it is he has had over the years loads of work but just seems to get bored and then moves on to new work after a while .
If he had stuck to the work hes had he would be sitting pretty now
