wanting to get into general cleaning, any advice will be great,how much to charge per hour or day,best way to advertise and so on, allready a window cleaner for many years but now looking to expand into this area.

by general cleaning so you mean domestic housework? If so I have to ask why you should want to get into it as by experience it holds more problems than it's worth ;)

If you are short on your budget - put a free listing in yell.com. we have had loads of business off this. If you can stretch - do a website and link it to your listing (the link cost £90 per year).
As for your charges - phone around companies providing the same services as you are wanting to supply and find out what they charge, then go for a competitive rate based on your research.
Our main line of work is domestics. Yes they are more demanding than commercials but if you are thorough, turn up when you say you will and are consistent in your high standards, you won't have any moans off them.

Yell.com are pants but thats imo - they listed me on a full listing and I never knew till they invoiced me and we always ask where the leads come from

A good leaflet drop with a quality flyer would help in your area mate.
What about your local parish mags etc much cheaper that yel pages.
