Title: Flow Master
Post by: kris martin on August 10, 2008, 06:06:33 pm
can anybody tell me why when i have my flowmaster under 3 on my freedom trolley it doesnt shut the pump off when i use the tap on my belt and will this damage the pump  with it running continuously?

and also will the pressure not damage the pump?

You may have a small leak in the line, and the pressure is being released before the pump can reach its cut out pressure.

Another thing may be that at that speed, the pump simply isn't capable of building up 100 PSI.

Running continuously and putting strain on the pump will undoubtedly shorten the life of the pump. A simple fix is to adjust the pressure switch on the pump. All you need is a little alan key which goes in the end of the pump where the pipes fit. Its adjustable down to 60 PSI normally which is still more than enough to push water up an 80' high pole,....

My pump (a 100psi sureflow one)has been set to 70 PSI for a few months now,.. no problems at all.

and adjusting the pump will that make it more likely to turn its self off and not burst the hose like it has done twice

Its right on the bottom of the pump (If its a sureflow one!)

Adjusting the pressure down will make it switch off sooner,.. less chance of bursting hoses,..

There are no markings.
What I'd suggest is set the pump to 4 or 5 and leave it running,.. then stop the flow at the pole valve and time how many seconds it takes for the pump to stop.

Turn the alan key a few times and time it again,.. just to make sure that the time gets shorter not longer. If it takes longer, then you're turning it the wrong way!
