Having been a little amused at Discounts ghost buster techniques at pole tidying and not seeing the point at all, i managed to nearly jam my telescopic pole again today with sharp sand that got inside the sections. So from now on i'm going to work with the hose outside the pole like i do with my Superlight modular. Can anyone see any reason why you wouldn't do this?

Because it doesn't make any sense. If you don't want to work with the pole hose looped through three short tubes on the main hose harness keeping them off the floor, free from tangles, and presenting no trip hazard, then at least wipe the pole hose with a cloth before you re- extend the pole.

I'm going to give it a week or two and see how i get on. I always clean the hose when the pole goes back in the van but there's no way i'm going to clean the hose every time the pole is extended. I did wonder if an end cap could be produced with a brush lining so that it would automatically wipe the hose clean of grit every time it was extended.

Just clean it at the end of the day and realise it makes you a ton of cash and is expendable!!!! When it wears replace it and stop the worry - you'll sleep better too ;)

Ghosbusters comical >:( may be one view,okay, but keeping the pole hose off the flloor is a tidier way of working and the methodical method i use means that i will do the job consistently faster.
I'm sure that in the future, when people have a more and wider knowledge of best practice this will be the accepted method. Work in loops, three large loops through three short plastic tubes takes seconds and saves minutes. The hose stays clean, the pole has no ingress of grit, and you don't have either a trip hazard or an interuption of flow when you tread on the hose.

Discount, you have a point i'll give you that, i previously didn't think poles wore from the inside. I've found when they start to jam a little on site, it can be difficult to sort unless you come across a cutomers hose pipe. However i'm looking at it from a different angle. I will either run the hose outside or try to think of something to brush the grit off the hose on extending.

i use a trigger on pole, hose attaches direct to trigger via shcrader connecter, keeps pole hose of floor , i use a 17 ft excell , had it nearly 1 year and not had any problems , and i never clean it.

There is still hose on the floor. I use the exact same pole and trigger for dirty jobs. But you need a 25footer to reach all your domestic work, and then there is even more hose on the floor.

there isnt any the way i do it , i simply fold excess against pole and hold inplace with hand that is already on pole , the same applies when i lower pole for downstairs, i have 2 velcro strips - the type supplied with sl2 permanatly fitted to first section, takes no time to wrap round folded pole hose
