They look like cable ties to me
thats what i use and it keeps it fixed in place

It's a 1/4 inch ball valve that comes with a mounting frame that's held in place with velcro. The velcro simply isn't up to the job and allows the valve to slide around everywhere. Since putting a couple of cable ties over the velcro, the taps stays put exactly where I want it.

Yea I see its a ball valve jobbie, I got one today for the same reason you have yours rigged up, was wondering about that saddle malarky stuff its mounted and fixed on. You can see 2 odd-bod-job bits at either end. Well, if you wake up all of a sudden in the middle of the night remembering where it came from, can you come on here and let me know ;D

Maybe I'm missing something here, but won't there be a long piece of pipe that dangles between the little tap and the bottom of the pole?
When you extend the pole this will go up inside it, but still that would be a bit of a pain dangling about?
I just pinch my pole hose to stop the flow when needed. Yes it will wear out eventually buts only pennies to replace.

Yes there is, but Im just trying to refine a few things, I may come back and say its crap and have to settle for how it was; like my salmon brush that got an hair-cut today, but cant revert that ;D .
Anyway we'll see.

Tennet: Yes, that's right. Like anything, you get used to it. I use a 17 foot pole so there's about a ten foot loop. With a longer pole, the loop would be longer and might well be unmanageable.
Matt: I got it from Pure Freedom. Here's a link:

Personally, I wouldn't buy another one from them - £20 is just too expensive. I'd sort out my own method of fixing..

Cheers Wally, I got one today from a local engineering company for £13.00
