Title: My New SL2
Post by: Kevin R on July 31, 2008, 07:08:29 pm
Well my 56ft SL2 arrived today

My first impressions were OMG this is light, my second impressions were, um I hope its stronger than it looks and feels. However if you watch the SL2 videos you can see that its much stronger than it appears.

This is my first modular pole. I am dying to test it but the weather is appalling!!!!! So i will wait for a better day before I give it its first outing.

The pole came in a good quality carry bag, which to be honest is a bit of a squeeze for all the 56 ft sections. Maybe Im packing it wrong?

The instructions are good, clear and concise. Alex has gone to a lot of trouble to make them easily understandable. It covers every topic you can think of (except how to pack all the sections back into the bag) and the preparation required and the care also.

Another concern I have is that you have to spray the male ends of the pole with ptfe spray and wait for it to dry before using the pole to stop the sections sticking together and prevent wear. So my concern is if the pole is assembled in the pouring rain  will the sections come apart ok?

I will let you know how it goes.

The 56ft pole packages are quite a tight fit but in general use, how I store them is section 6 holds section 5,4,3,2 and 1 inside of it (this does make it slightly longer than the holdall so I leave it sticking out the end) and this creates slightly more room in the holdall.

The male ends need to be sprayed before first use (ie, spray them now in your garage before you take them out for work). They usually flash dry in about 10 minutes and can be used straight afterwards.  Re-application is usually only needed every month or so depending on your exact usage.  It really does not matter if it's raining when you use the pole.

If trying to replicate the Super-Lite endurance video, I would advise using the number 6 section or one of the extension sections as I really don't think the thin top section could cope with it!

Thanks for the rapid reply Alex.

A bigger bag for the 56 ft I think would be nice, maybe another project for you?

I don't think I will be replicating the endurance video LOL  ;D

Can't wait to try it  ;D

5 3 and 1 fits nicely together

6 4 and 2 fits nice too

and then they all fit in bag easily! 6 seperate poles 3 in each side which do fit fit in together if you push the middle one in

dont know what your fussing about?

Thanks I will give that a try

Fussing as I don't want to the sections to get damaged. And If I didn't fuss you wouldn't have given me the answer LOL  ;D

I use an F16 pole and all of my sections fit inside each other leaving enough room for the other extentions
Loads of room left in my bag  ;D ;D
