Title: Expats
Post by: Mikey Y on February 04, 2005, 06:41:04 pm
I have been wondering how many expats apart from Karl and myself, using this forum, and how are things going since they packed up and left a wet, cold and dreary UK. I left UK for Spain over 5 years ago, and would not consider going back across the pond. 8)

Best regards

Yes, I got into it by accident, I have been cleaning glass for 16 years fitting window films, was tinting some posh villa one day and the lady asked me to clean her windows as there were no window cleaners in the area, and as they say, the rest is history, I still fit window films as well but its not really repeat business as the stuff lasts for ten years or more. I am struggling keeping up with WCing at the moment as I have had a few film jobs come along, it puts me behind with me regular work.

must have been a bit of a culture shock...all that moving over there and then learning the language....making friends etc.....Mrs move with you ? or are you single/found local girl, or what....? sounds interesting. I went off and lived in Fuertaventura for a while....but I worked as a Chef then, before I got into glass.......just got a flight out there on a break, and didn't go back....that was tough to start with....but I soon found my feet (after a few weeks).....

Moved with the Mrs, yes was a bit strange, my Spanish is not so hot as the climate, most of my clients are English, and are used to having there glass cleaned regular.

after reading that (and joining the site  ;) ) I've come to the conclusion that cleaning is good here....WE JUST NEED TO IMPROVE THE WEATHER !

Its not all bad though, once started its a good way of life, very few traffic jams going to work, and some stunning views at a lot of my places of work.

Must admit I thought there might have been a few guys in other parts of the world reading this forum.
