cheers wally. I have been turning pump off, disconnecting hose, removing hoselock adaptor and then turn pump back on until water pumps out. Your way seems alot faster. I get them alot when i remove pipe from barrell even though i turn pump off.

Yes. I was doing exactly the same for MONTHS before I thought of doing this. Saves me loads of time.

I was expecting a funny shaped green faced man to be in the video, where was he Wally?

It's only my head that is thus afflicted. My face is green and furry and my brain is cotton wool. The rest of me is fairly normal.

i take it this connection is on outlet side of pump ???

To stop this happening as soon as you take the hose out of the container close the valve on the end of the inlet hose (The one you put into the container) This will keep the water in the hose and you should be fine.
Nice vid by the way Wally :)

try a check valve hozelok on the inlet pipe
see other post

and
while we are about it

work fine

It depends entirely on what you mean by "fine."
I was out of order with the post you referred to and I fully admit that. I got carried away - and I apologise and I'm happy to do so again.
If they work fine for you, that's an end to it. I'll bow to your experience over my theory any day.
-
fair play matey ;D
as for fine
empty tank slops around for ages
pipe baffle slop slop stop
that theusuall on hard cornering
could have been a complete failure
maybe i would not be crowing if my van was in a ditch ;D
any way thanks
oh and try a hozelock stop on inlet
can work but no guarentee

A good thing to stick on the end of your pipe that goes into the barrel is a non-return valve, it just pushes into the end of the pipe, when you take the pipe out of the barrel the water will be unable to come out, hence the term one-way valve

Great idea! Where do I get one from? The tap on mine is really tight

Thanks guys!

stop valve female connectors do same thing ::)
and cost pence
anyone listening ???
-
to clear an air block just put your thumb in the connector from the trolley till the pressure builds up. works for me every time.
-
I must have big fingers or I'm not doing it right. When I use a finger to release the valve my finger blocks the flow of water, hence why I use a male/male hozelock piece to release the valve

still like my idea, but i cant seem to upload link
