Does anyone advertise in Community Magazines/Flyers and if you do what sort of response are you getting??
Cheers Dave

I don't any more but I used to a lot.
Parish mags/village newsletters etc are very good. It's cheap to advertise in them and you do get a decent response. Much better than leafletting/local free newspapers etc.
It gives the local touch and with domestic especially people like to deal with local companies for window cleaning etc.
My advice would be not to go over the top with the "PRO" image in any adverts you do in these. Keep it simple and emphasise the local touch/trustworthiness/fully insured etc.
Hope this helps

NO! NO! NO!
Ask them for a "Try before your buy" deal.
They give you three months free advertising. Then, once you know that it works, you'll buy advertising every month.
NEVER offer to pay for advertising!!!!!!!!
ALWAYS ask for "try before you buy."
Simple rule: No try, no buy.

Not always true - Yellow pages would never of given me a free trial so therefore if I followed your rule I would of never placed an advert. What a mistake that would of been. I would say that in my case my work comes in from yellow pages and the internet almost 50-50. So in this case I think thats bad advice wally. However, I can see it working with the parish /village mags.......Maybe!

I used to advertise in a village newsletter i got lots of work from it and the window cleaner who now advertises in it has also picked a lot of work up from it

Thanks for the replies and advice guys!
When i say its £39 ..that is the price for a "one off" advert ....its a lot cheaper if i sign up for say 6 months.
Surely £39 isnt a lot to pay if i get maybe 10 nice regular jobs from it?
Cheers Dave

i've advertised with the same ad in 4 different local parish type publications. 2 have given poor results, 1 has brought in approx 6-10 good jobs a month and one is just going out at the moment.
they cost me £20/3500, £25/4500, £30/4500 and £20/10000
I think it just depends if there is a shortage of w/c in that area.
hope this helps, i'd just go for it, you'll soon know if it will do any good, and £39 isn't gonna break the bank. good luck
