Title: Yellow page conversions
Post by: mark_roberts on February 03, 2005, 04:25:03 pm
What % of calls from YP do you convert into jobs?

Last month I converted 50% into jobs.

80% of those converted had an inhouse quote.

The 65% unconverted either didnt want an inhouse quote or I could tell they where price shoppers.

thanks
Mark

I dont mean to be picky but 80% + 65% = 145%, but i think I no what you mean.

For me I would say I used to convert about 33%, but this year with a slightly bigger ad I've pushed that up to about 65%. Always quoted over the phone.

The problem with the YP is that its a lottery, this year your ad could be in a good position & next year it might get lost & consequently you would get less calls.

Funny lot us carpet cleaners complain about price shoppers but we shop around for the best deals on equipment and chemicals ::)

Stave,

I think there is a difference when the price shopper has no interest in the quality ,  just how much?!

Cheers,

Mark,
I think picky Dave has got it wrong too, so her goes, not being picky of course ;D
If 50% were converted that means 50% were unconverted, so how do you get 65%???  I find that my in house quotes for YP enquirers are almost 100%, over the phone its probably 20%.
Dave.

Not being picky, but what you havn't told us is what % of YP enquires you actually whent to visit.

I know you are using that as a filter to illiminate the price shoppers.

I get about 80% over the phone (yes I can rattle) I woo them and then when it comes to time scales I lose them most callers want it done with in 10 days.

I Know what you mean by the 10 day scenario, but why cant you! The excuses I use dial 999 and see how long it takes for them to respond, first come first served basis and you have you have already paid for this! ;D ;D

Maths was wrong.  It should have been 50% unconverted to.

The 65% was for something else altogether.

In house convertion = 95%, over the phone = 0% I do NOT quote over the phone.

Went on a in house quote today lounge and 3 bedrooms £215.00 so why do some of you quote over the phone,  you do you do not know who you are working for, I do NOT work for people I do not like.

The question regarding conversion rates raises questions on how good we are at doing a Sales Presentation.

Is it on the back of envelope.

Ring Binder Flip Type

Or Powerpoint

Dave you are correct I am NOT in YELLOW PAGES but am in Yellow Pages in BT PHONE BOOK and in Thomsons they are Yellow too!!

I do not advertise anywhere else so to my thinking all my enquiries come from Yellow Pages, may be a different shade but STILL YELLOW.

John

Have you always insisted on going to the house to quote?

What % of your calls do you convert into a visit and do you cover a small area.

Personally I never got on with the Thomson & have never been in the new section of the phone book.

I always quote in house I do not believe in guessing a price for a job that I have not seen!!
